However, just a few minutes ago the Main Window disappeared on me as well. No prompt to save, nothing, it just is not there. I would suspect a problem with KDE or Compiz, but this only happens to Gimp. I am on Gimp 2.4 on Kubuntu 8.04. I do not have a Windows menu, but I did find Toolbox under tools. Even better, there is a keyboard shortcut already defined.
