submodule and master repository at once but as far as i can see it doesn't
integrate anything nor will it really reference the tip but still an sha1

As Excel files are binary (from git's point of view), merging will be kind
of pain I think. Otherwise it's not a bad idea. There is even a tool called
SparkleShare for such tasks.
