Dear gluster experts,
Recently I find if I run some normal gluster commands like gluster

"Connection failed. Please check if gluster daemon is operational."
Meanwhile the log says "Request received from non-privileged port".

Negative lookups are a particularly expensive operation on distributed
filesystems, GlusterFS in particular. It has to check through each

I'm rolling out 4 lots of 6-node GlusterFS setups for my employer. Each
node is ~33TB of RAID6 backed storage (16x 3TB SATA disks in RAID6 with a
hot spare hanging off an LSI controller, with 2x SSDs configured for
caching), and Gluster is configured in distribute-replicate. Each cluster

Hello,
Occasionally one of the servers can hang and only hardware reboot helps. Kernel
logs has nothing suspicious. I suspect glusterfs or underlying fs (xfs) to be
the root of problem.
Setup is following:

I've built gluster systems that did the internal stuff over an IB network and
did the external stuff over 10G..
I didn't even think about it and it just worked.
