thinking about moving from python2 to 3 I wonder how character
encoding in the backend is done. Can you point me to some docs
about that ? Which encoding in sqlite, mysql, xml ? Where does
encoding take place, where is it being controlled ? I don't need
an extensive answer, just

years ago to use Quicken and to get rid of his DBase-scripts that he wrote

I also had a similar problem with a more complex python application and
even ended up kludging things to the point where I was moving my from
gnucash import statements to the inside of functions instead of at the
top of programs

Maybe you have some ideas about this weird behaviour.
I used Python 2.6 (r26:66714, Feb 3 2009, 20:52:03) and todays svn
branch of Gnucash. The latter is r18659. It's the same with r19209.

Hello !
I guess a python-script using the python-bindings which accesses the
SQL-Database would be the same as another user accessing it ?
Gnucash and my script coexist peacefully but i decided to not run them
the same time for i feared data destruction. It would be nice, though.

My python script ceased to run with a recent version
of gnucash (19209). It worked with 18542.
session=Session(mysql://localhost:gnucash:USER:PASSWORD)
now i get :
GnuCashBackendException: call to begin resulted in the following errors, (11,)
Can anyone help ? Did the syntax of the
ideas about this weird behaviour.
