My recollection is that Lots have always worked this way, even as far back as GnuCash Version 2. My opinion is that this not a bug, it is just how Lots work. The price you pay for using Lots is that Lots rule the capital gains/losses calculations and will trump (and, as you have found, even

Nothing shows up in accounts. According to https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/File:OFX_Create_user_6.png there should at least be a "Parsing response...", "Status" messages for the web requests, and then "Received account ..." for each account. The fact that it isn't getting any of those at all means

If you set an account to Hidden, it will be... hidden in the chart of accounts. Assuming that your messed up account is a catch-all account from which you hope to move transactions, I'd actually keep that account visible, and change the messed up transactions to reflect my current intention--
