Someone mentioned reconciling their PayPal account. Is there a way to do
this for anything other than the last transaction? I don’t seem to be able
to display a balance at any point in the past. So if I wanted to know the
balance on the first of July, I don’t see a way of finding it.

I have a Chase credit card account. I used to be able to import QFX
file no problem, but the last time I tried, it crashed gnucash.
I thought there must be something wrong with the file and waded through
it, comparing it to files that worked for other accounts. I couldn't
find anything in

With thanks to those who advised me on this problem, I've finally managed to
install the latest version of Finance::Quote and get it working. It wasn't as
straightforward as I'd expected, and I ended up reinstalling Perl a couple of

Japan which was cancelled due to Covid.
In error I entered the reimbursement against my credit card, although I
had paid it from my bank.

It seems I missed explaining myself. It is not the data files that I
am looking for. It's a new year and I can start from scratch to fill the
files. When I downloaded GnuCash from the beginning it did not give me the
opportunity to build a new accounting files tree. It always did before.

On the contrary, the preference I mentioned could very well show a
negative balance and this would be proper. (not contra)
Try toggling the preference yourself with a Liability account open and
you'll see the balance change from negative to positive.
The question is what does the user prefer
It appears they are thinking it's a trademark violation. Maybe report back
something along the lines of this is a rogue website distributing malware
by impersonating a legitimate one.

You should have three splits. You entered 4 splits (two splits into
Assets:PayPal:GBP). That's why it's showing up twice.
Instead, you should merge those into a single split of 906-38.26, because
your Asset account really only increased by 867.74
