That is very odd indeed as now this isn't necessarily a Find Account
problem as it is an Accounts Tab problem.
Does this only happen after doing Find Account?
Now that you know where the account is, can you open it without doing a

It should not open any account. It should show you in the Accounts tab
where in the tree, that account exists, with it highlighted. Then you
double click or choose Open on the toolbar to open that account

James, I'm a new user too. I am also most grateful to this community and I
hope I can help you too.
Most important information to me is what are you running on your computer?
If it is Windows there is a tool that allows you to capture a picture of
your screen. It's called a "snipping tool".
ork for me.

I have seen the various replies, and agree. I don't see icons on my
screens, I see words like 'file', etc. are we reading the same software?
I want to take this opportunity to thank all those who take the time and
effort to answer remarks on here, some are queries, all are treated fairly.
James, of course, move on to something else if you really want to, but
there are lots of us here to help. There aren't too many places
(especially with respect to accounting software) to find such a community.
If you decide to stick it out, we can do our best to help.
However, *specifics* are
OK, I didn't mention that the librarian at your neighborhood library can
probably find good resources too. This is the first group that came up
when I did a search on groups in Atlanta. I know that Atlanta is a big
community so their physical meeting place may be too far away but I think

I could suggest trying to find a friend or possibly a Linux User Group
nearby to help you with those early teething problems with unfamiliar
software. Some people say to ask your grandchild if you have one. None of
mine use Linux so I go to my local Linux group.

You haven't really given us much information to go on to help you. What
operating system are you using and what version of Gnucash did you install. If
you run GnuCash it will tell you the version number in the splash window at
startup or as usual Help ->About will list the information. It

James, the Cinnamon desktop is the default desktop for Linux Mint.
Unlike Windows (and MacOS) with Linux, you have a choice of which
Desktop you want to use.
Mint offers 3 main options out of the box:
1. Cinnamon (the main option if you didn't intentionally choose #2 or #3)
2. MATE (looks

I did not down load cinnamon desktop. As I have heard of it. Don’t know what it
does.
Thanks for the items you send. Looking to learn more about linux and Gnucash as
well.
Thanks

After installation (in Windows 10), I get when I click the GnuCash icon
on the desktop, in “Program Files (x86)” the following. But it says
“Unsaved Book” – and the screen shows:
bin
doc
etc
lib
share
uninstall
I tried to find a “trigger” file to start GnuCash runnig – but I could not.
