RE: Specific reports directory for each dataset?
Many thanks for further response. I have separate user accounts, etc, but I was running the other accounts from my personal login having given myself access to the other "user" files. I just logged in properly as the other user and magic there are no saved reports. So my question is answered, just need to login with my personal or charity account, etc. Many thanks Jim -Original Message- From: D Sent: 10 March 2018 05:15 PM To: Jim Billinghurst ; stepbystepfarm@dialup4less com ; Gnucash Users Subject: Re: Specific reports directory for each dataset? Jim, Mike was referring to separate Windows logins. I suspect you're talking about different Gnucash files. If you use Gnucash for different Gnucash files, but from the same Windows login, you will have the same stored reports for all of them. If you have a different Windows login for each, they will have separate folders for everything. David On March 10, 2018, at 6:38 PM, Jim Billinghurst wrote: Many thanks for quick response. Questions like this are awkward to answer yes-no. One OBVIOUS way is to put each under a different USER (I am assuming that your OS supports this, as all modern ones do). In other words, you personal books would be under your "own" log in, your charity1 books would be under a different user log in (say org1) and this new organization under another user (say org2). Then you use "change user" and enter that user's password to go to one of these. Just because you are a single human being doesn't mean that your computer(s) have to see you as a single person/user. But this answer is probably not the sort of one you are looking for. Specific reports directory for each dataset?
GnuCash is brilliant! This is my first question after using GnuCash for over 10 years. I use gnucash to run my personal finances. I also run the finances for a charity in another data set. I am about to take on the accounting for a third entity. Although the data files are clearly separate, all the reports are in one place. I use saved report configurations quite a lot, currently I name them to show which dataset they refer to. Is there a way of having a unique directory for reports that will be specific to each dataset?
