  JUST IMAGINE CASINO LUCKY SEVEN LUCK?

The High Court has given clearance with a condition that Casino seven may
enter river Mandovi at their own risk. Who will be responsible if the third
party is at risk?
Whether CoP or the owners of this casino? It must be made clear or else
again the matter will reach to court if something happens. This vessel is
so huge and this Government has permitted  entry in the Mandovi river. This
is the sixth casino but actually the Court should have said this will be
the last casino . What is the guarantee if by chance  more casinos are in
the pipeline?
Already Mandovi is congested and polluted because Government wants to  get
revenue at whose cost and risk factor, if any?  CoP has no backbone to say
"NO", when Government has already allowed its entry? Public cannot expect
CoP to do miracles even if there are technical reasons.
Public has no voice either,  but only dependent on Judiciary.

Today's  ( 30th June) NT news reads partial  withdrawal of order along with
 some importantt  staff were sent back to PAWS at St Ines.
What is this musical chair?
 CCP is empowered to maintain their decision taken earlier but without
hampering their routine work. This transfer of staff could have been done
once the replacement of organisation  was available.
I still insist that changes especially at higher level like Angela  Kazi
and the treasurer Banakar  who is a tainted person worked as Scientist
earlier and had number of complaints against him with our ex-Director of
NIO Dr.. SWANaqvi should be replaced by another suitable person or get the
duties executed by CCP accounts section.The treasurer does not have
qualification in accounts but a scientist and not even a medical doctor.
Accountability is required.
 Rest of staff may be kept unless another organisation like HOME  ( Haven
of Miracles enclave ) takes over so that the health and duties on these
 animals are not affected.
Importantly that the stray animals which the population is found increasing
due to bad management as these animals are found on the roads in increase
numbers  thus  creating not only bites for pedestrians and also accidents
to  the 2- wheeler drivers

PUNJAB, JUNE 27: Goa’s Tanvi Hadkonkar finished ninth while Gunajl
Chopdekar stood 14th at the 31stU-13 National Open and Girls
Championship, Jalhander, Punjab, on Thursday.

The duo put up splendid performances throughout the tournament, and
despite falling short of the top three finish, the Goan eves made their
way in the top 18 finish.

After being stunned in the 10th round by Maharashtra’s Mrudul Dehnkar,
Tanvi came back strongly in the final round to beat Maharashtra’s
Ananya Rishi Gupta to finish ninth with 7.5 points.

Gunjal Chopdekar, who prevailed over Andra Pradesh’s Abhirami
Madhabushi in the 10th round, failed to overcome her battle against
Tamil Nadu’s Rindiya V to finish with 7 points. The lass bagged the
14th spot, however, a win would have earned her a place in the top 10.
Altogether 110 girls participated in the national event.

Goa’s Om Barde finished on 7 points. Om beat Andra Pradesh’s
Kanatham Snehil in the eleventh round. Ishan beat Punjab’s Vidhit to
finish with 5.5 points while Ayush played a draw against Lankashree of
Andra Pradesh in the final round to finish with five points.

International matches for the Indian U-23 National Team as part of the
preparation process for the forthcoming AFC U-23 Championships slated to be
held in Doha.


National Coach Stephen Constantine felt the games would be a “learning
experience” for the team.


“It’s been two weeks that we have been together and the U-23 boys need
competitive games. The tour to Singapore would be a valuable experience for
the squad to gauge the intensity of International encounters. I thank AIFF
for arranging the matches ahead of our AFC Qualifiers,” he stated.


“The games would be competitive and provide us the much needed exposure,”
he further added. It has been under Constantine’s coaching that the Senior
Indian

National Team has jumped 73 places in the FIFA Rankings to be currently
placed 100.


AIFF General Secretary Mr. Kushal Das said the primary objective of the
AIFF is to provide the “best exposure to all National Teams.”


“It is really frustrating that despite applying well in advance and after
multiple follow-ups for the US visas we failed to get any response from the
concerned authorities. I need to thank the Singapore FA for agreeing to the
two International matches which would provide valuable practice for our
U-23 boys prior to the AFC U-23 Qualifiers,” he said.


The U-23 Team presently preparing in the Capital since June 19 will fly to
Singapore in the first week of July from where they will directly proceed
to take on Turkmenistan, Qatar and Syria in Group C from July 19 onwards.

Dubai: Orlando Viegas, one of the well-known Indian footballers based in
Dubai, is relocating with his new assignment as grassroots development
director with Indian football franchise FC Goa.

As per regulations of the newly launched Indian Super League (ISL), each of
the franchises is supposed to have its own grassroots development
programme. Since February 2015, FC Goa has been reaching out to more than
20,000 children in the 6-12 years age group through their adoption of 17
schools — eight in South Goa and nine in North Goa.

With American Jill Ferguson as CEO of the Forca Goa grassroots development
programme, a dozen coaches have been looking after the grooming of talent
in these 17 schools. From now on, Viegas will be directly spearheading this
development programme with all 12 coaches reporting directly to him.

“One of the main objectives of the Forca Goa grassroots development
programme is to create a base of young players who can play for FC Goa in
the long run,” Viegas told Gulf News in a brief chat.

“My first task in my new role as grassroots development director will be to
bring in this aspect of professionalism in Goan football. From my
experience of so many years I feel our young footballers lack this
direction of being totally professional from a very early age,” Viegas said.

“The focus of course, will always be to impart values that go along with
football to these youngsters,” the midfielder stressed.

Brazilian legend Zico was head coach for FC Goa for the first two seasons,
while Spaniard Sergio Lobera was appointed the new coach earlier this month
along with former Indian international Derrick Pereira as his assistant.

During his stay in Dubai for 17 years, Viegas managed to complete the FA
International Foundation Course offered at the Jebel Ali Centre of
Excellence under the aegis of the English FA’s It’s Just Football. The
course is delivered by a qualified coach from the FA and features practical
and theory elements on the basics of coaching in football. Earlier this
year, Viegas also completed his AIFF D-Licence Course in Goa.

“I am passionate about football and I want to give something back to sport.
Dubai has given me and my family — wife Hylette and children Hayden and
Hayley — a good quality of life. Being in Dubai has definitely been the
best part of my life. But I need to move on,” he said.

“If I was shifting to a different country then things would have been
different. But I am going back home with a grand challenge before me. And I
am confident of doing my best with this new challenge,” Viegas added.

This has reference to your write up in today’s Navhind Times (29th June
2017).

Congratulations on your new books Moda Goa - History and Style and Poskem:
Goans and Shadows. I have not read either book, but I wanted to share the
thoughts that crossed my mind when I read the titles. I think Moda Goa
should have been Moda de Goa if you mean to say fashions of Goa. But that
is a minor thing. Mainly I want to mention the impact or memories the word
‘poskem’ throws up for someone of my generation. (I’m in my 70s.) In my
youth, people used to call foster children poskem. Obviously I do not know
the circumstances under which your parents brought poskem at home but
generally poskem children were kept in those days either because the couple
did not have a child for a long time, or as an act of charity because they
were distant relatives whose parents couldn’t care for them for some reason
or the other. Usually the poskem children were asked to do all the donkey
work, similar to what maidservants do now, though some exceptions were
treated well. Because of this bad treatment, the word poskem became almost
like a slur.

Nowadays, there are complex rules regarding fostering or adopting children.
It is not that easy because the person had to go through lots of
formalities and conditions. Adoptive children have full rights on family
property and are considered the same as ones own children If the adopted
child is not treated well a complaint could be lodged to the Children
Welfare Organization and the parents could be taken to task.

Thankfully the days are over these innocent children are teased and mocked
with the word Poskem

Very ludicrous and bizarre is Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s statement
that his government can be brought down only with the mandate of the
people. Does Manohar Parrikar need to be reminded that on March 14th this
year he very deviously and crookedly usurped the Chief Minister’s Chair
despite the people of Goa having clearly voted out the BJP? It was a total
and blatant breach of the people’s verdict with the fundamental democratic
principles totally breached and violated.



And highly laughable and preposterous is Manohar Parrikar’s other cynical
statement that he has no objection to anyone contesting against him at the
by-election to the Panaji Constituency. Is Manohar Parrikar losing his last
marbles? In 2012 Manohar Parrikar had publicly stated that it would be his
last election and that he would take to farming after his retirement. If
that had happened, Goa would not have landed itself in the mess of
political poaching.


On 22nd September 2009 Manohar Parrikar had dubbed the veteran BJP leader
L.K.Advani as  ageing pickle that had turned rancid whose political innings
were more or less over. Maybe it’s now the very rancid Manohar Parrikar’s
turn to hang his boots and allow Goa to move on.
