[Goanet] Rape, molestation murders
Rapes, molestation, murders The frequency of these brutal , inhuman crimes against women are on the rise. It may be that they are reported, instead of being hushed in the past. The electronic media and print media are quick on the uptake, informing and putting pressure on police to act. The society today is whole hearted supporting action against the perpetrators by mass demonstrations and solidarity movement. The greatest harm and watering down of these ghastly incidents comes from irresponsible, insensitive men in power and which is highly detestable and deplorable The legal formalities should be time bound. The offenders need to be in custody till the case is over, without any bail. The punishment of 7 years as proposed is insignificant for these heinous crimes The punishment is not acting as the deterrent and should be more and life sentence should be inflicted The victim however bold to sublimate this scar is not the remedy. The pain and agony lies buried deep in to the psyche for a life time The future is marred permanently for the women of this atrocity and she has limp on crutches of courage and determination. She suffers alone and in silence with head bent down in shame and guilt for no fault of her own. It is true that stigma is indelible on the mind, even if the wound is healed temporarily on the surface Fortunately the society is more accommodating, forgiving and understanding about the predicament of the victim, But then the victim has to fend for herself and it is not likely that her marriage prospect are any bright, unless a chivalrous gentleman embraces her into his loving arms, but not out of charity In the mean while the perpetrator should be flogged in the public square, paraded naked, if castration is to severe and inhuman The victim living without any dignity and self respect, shame. Loss of prospects her feelings are hurt beyond redemption Nelson Lopes Chinchinim

Gabe Menezes wrote: Rapeseed oil sales soar as middle class cooks turn to it instead of olive oil because it has half the amount of saturated fat Gabe, About 40 years ago, Canadian scientists took Rapeseed, changed the content of the seed, bred into it drought resistance properties, increased the yield and renamed it Canola. Thanks to people pursuing more healthy diets, Canola oil is now the most popular oil on Canadian supermarket shelves. While the picture in your newspaper article looks pretty, there are parts of the Canadian parries where you can look out of your train window and see nothing but stunning views of golden fields of Canola, rolling for 15 miles or more in every direction. I use the word 'golden' not because of the colour of the crop but because it is one of the few crops a Canadian farmer can actually make money on. Did I mention its drought resistance properties? Well, last year's US drought meant disaster for US corn growers and a bonanza for anyone who held Canola futures. China has caught onto the action and is the biggest producer of Canola, followed by Canada and then India. One last thing. I get a lot of 'forwards' from friends in Australia who are convinced that Canola oil is poison. Here is a snip from one such forward, Rapeseed oil was used in the chemical warfare agent mustard gas, which was banned after blistering the lungs and skins of hundred of thousands of soldiers and civilians during W.W.I. As always, there are clowns on the fringes or sometimes an entire circus of entertainers dancing around us. Mervyn

[Goanet] Rape was Pre-Planned
The mother of nine-year-old Russian girl, who was allegedly raped at Arambol beach on January 26, said on Wednesday night that the crime was pre-planned. My husband left for Moscow on January 25. Since, the morning of January 26, the accused saw me alone and were trying to get too friendly with me to which I was not comfortable with, the lady, who is a doctor by profession, told PTI in an interview. Goa police had registered a rape case against an unidentified person, who allegedly took the victim in the water and raped her. An accomplice of the accused kept the mother busy in a conversation while the crime was being committed, the complaint at Pernem police station reads. The woman, who described the accused before the police to draw a sketch, said the resources available with the police are very little. Even for the sketch of the accused person, there was no computer and it was being done by hand, she claimed. Earlier in the day, the lady had given her statement to the Russian consulate listing the happenings before and after the crime. Yes I have had a long talk with the consul general and informed him about all what has happened. Also I have made my statement in Russian which has been sent to the Russian Consulate, she said. The lady said she wanted the criminal arrested soon. When criminals rape a child, they must not be protected but must be arrested. I hope that the Goa Police can arrest them soon, she said. The victim had helped the officials of the Russian consulate to draw a sketch of the accused. She even told them how she was dragged to the water and raped. The girl, in her statement to the police, has claimed that the accused was holding some sharp weapon in his hand during the crime. Superintendent of Police (North) Bosco George told PTI that they have not been able to get a breakthrough in the case. We are investigating it, he said refusing to divulge details. _ Hotmail: Powerful Free email with security by Microsoft. https://signup.live.com/signup.aspx?id=60969
Re: [Goanet] Rape in Goa and the impotent postings
I did NOT say there was no corruption in Goa...Can you name any place in the world where there is NO corruption? We are discussing about a particular topic..why does it interest you from which part of Goa I come...I am a GOAN..believe it or not..its your prerogative. What I do in my private life is my business...not yours. This is a public forum and we are discussing (or rather most of are trying to without being insulted and questioned) to discus a topic that affects our state and community...now if one is interested in assisting our community one will not get personal. The law IS taking its course. To be fair, the Police are acting on the German mothers complaint..although they may have delayed it..all the same better late than never ! You on one hand are accusing the Police of a delay in taking action (you are of course right here) but have you asked yourself about the Mother..why did she take so long in lodging a complaint in the first place ? Whom I vote for is again MY business and NOT YOURS! You , as a CITIZEN DID NOT FILE A COMPLAINT EITHER, DID YOU? but then again we are not the girls parents or guardians...I do not have to be grateful to anyone..and I did not ask why Aires did not file the complaint earlier...in a sane world the parent or guardian will file the complaint...the solicitor or advocate will only act on their instructions...after all he is retained by them ...or is he? I am an individual and not anyone's agent. I am not supporting anyone. all I am doing is trying to assist in getting to the bottom of this whole episode (if we can). You remark that you are asking the questions on a public forum and would like answers on the same forum...have I written to you privately? would not waste my time doing so. The questions I am asking are general questions unlike the personal ones you ask ! You have remarked that you have not seen any previous posts from me and that I have suddenly sprouted onto Goanet! As a Goan and as a member of Goanet I have a right to express my views on any topic I wish, especially if it interests me. I do not have to comment on every topic appearing on the forum and frankly speaking I do not have the time to comment on every topic ! Makes me wonder what you do...having all the time to continuously post comments! (You appear to only answer questions convenient to you - what about all the other unanswered questions?) Take care and have a good day ! Is it sitting next to a person with your arm around her? as it appears in the photograph? Not only have the boys been accused (no proof provided as yet!) but an innocent girl has been dragged into the controversy. The lawyer too has now changed his tone about the photograph! The mother, of all the people, should realise that it is not right to publish a minors name ...can we have the other side of the story please? Samir - answers to your questions (for the sake of debate not argument or any ill feeling) - The Media are doing their job - The law has to, and will, take its course - we live in a democracy - innocent until proved guilty. The two accused have NOT yet been proved guilty - Lets not mix issues...The Miramar case is an independent one - It has been reported that Aires was attacked and assaulted..the law is taking its course. The Police have arrested suspects and will handle the matter - again - innocent until proved guilty. - Why have a go at Digamber Kamat ? (whether we support him or not) He cannot and should not intervene with the procedures to be followed by the law. He can only intervene if there is a miscarriage of Justice even for this there is a procedure. - I don't think anyone is crying hoarse from behind their key boards. we are all concerned about the same matter as you are - Keeping Goa safe for our children. Hi Miguel While you raise questions and in some cases you seem to need a reality check, use sexual connotations, I see you acting like an agent of the establishment because there are no solutions that you even suggest. I do think the Aires approach is super. Monseratte has failed to give satisfactory answers about his educational qualifications. Rohit has failed to turn up. The main conspirator behind Aires attack hasn't been arrested yet, and you are castigating the media. Dear Samir, Why should any Digamber wear bangles ... or anything else, for that matter? Lack of law and order in Goa for which Digambar is the person responsible. Will you file an affidavit about the Miramar Sex scandal or will you coax Manohar-bab to do it? Manohar was the CM when the sex scandal happened. He need not have filed any petition; he could have just arrested the culprits. Have you heard of anyone getting convicted in 12 days in India for any crime whatsoever? What 12 days, there are many obvious cases where there is no conviction in 12 years in India. And in obvious murder cases, only after the media made a big shout, have non-convictions been overturned into fresh trials and convictions. Why are you wearing blinders Miguel ? Are you an agent of someone who is a criminal ? What sort of potency did the MEdia display in the Art College Rape case that wasn't? I have asked you a question why the boys involved in this case not file a suit for damages. If they did or come up with a press conference, I am sure media would give it enough coverage. And. where are the 100 girls that were provided in a South Goa 5-start hotel to some company executives? I have given my source for this info, and my source has also confirmed it to you. If you care, please investigate further. Why do you want a paediatrician to practice in a Court? As far as I know, Juvenile Justice and Children's Courts are not for medical practice! What happened to your role in the Board of Directors of the IT Corporation of Goa? You need a reality check in both the above issues, so I won't waste my time on these. If you go to bed with sex on your mind, you may wake up with the solution in your hands. ;-) Is that what you do Miguel ? Perhaps, Rajan Parrikar will help you photo document it this time. Re: [Goanet] Rape of nun in Orissa 'shameful crime against humanity':Advani
The rape of the nun cannot be seen as a crime against humanity, unless he is talking about her humanity -- her work -- in which case he is acknowledging selflessness among other values that thos eof the cloth bring through their vocation. I wonder of Advani is thinking correctly or just making up things to have a favorable glow cast upon his persona. Give India a break — it is a crime, and not anymore shameful than any crime. It certainly is not a crime against humanity in the sense of the multitude. When people talk like this it shows that there are talking ahead of themselves. [Goanet] Rape of nun in Orissa 'shameful crime against humanity':Advani
Wed, Oct 8 06:59 PM New Delhi, Oct 8 (PTI) Senior BJP leader L K Advani today termed the rape of a nun in Orissa as a shameful crime against humanity and denounced violence against Christians in the state and other places for which Sangh Parivar outfits have been accused. Amid mounting pressure on the government to act against Bajrang Dal for anti-Christian violence in Orissa and some other states, Advani also talked about the need for restoring peace and a sense of security in the state through cooperation between the communities. After a meeting with a delegation of Christian leaders here, he also favoured immediate initiation of a sustained and sincere dialogue between Hindus and Christians on religious conversions. In a joint statement issued after about two-hour meeting, Advani described the rape of a nun in Orissa as a shameful crime against humanity. He condemned the violence and vandalism that marked the attack on churches and innocent Christians in Orissa and elsewhere in the country, the statement said. The Christian leaders, on their part, condemned the heinous killing of VHP leader Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati and his four disciples in Kandhmal in Orissa in August. In the meeting it was unanimously resolved that all efforts should be made to restore peace, normalcy and a sense of security in strife-torn areas with the co-operation of the governments concerned and leaders of the Hindu and Christian communities, Advani told reporters after the meeting. The Christian delegation comprised Archbishop of Orissa Raphael Cheenath, Archbishop of Delhi Vincent Concessao and spokesman of Delhi Catholic Archdiocese Dominic Emmanuel. PTI.
[Goanet] Rape or Blackmail?
Rape or Blackmail? After reading so much on Goanet about the alleged rape of Goa...I wonder if all the noise created in the name of the dreaded word rape is actually a rape or blackmail... If one goes by...only certain constituencies and ministers are targetted...those that could be of help in any future toppling bid or who have been party to toppling bids of Digu's current congress government get away from the Lord's lenses... Goans must be aware to see beyond the hidden agenda to obstruct the growth of Goa by terming it rape...it is not a rape but a systematic blackmail of the government or of ministers to keep them on the run... The recent attacks on the GBA convenor Dr Oscar by several trouble mongers or habitual gossip creators proved the hidden agenda of these so called modern day saviours of GOA... Please look beyond carefully what is actully cooking behind the scenes and wait and watch...what is boiling will soon spill out in the open...its yet another half cooked khichdi... When I looked around, I have counted about 14 people in the batch (about 30 minutes show/batch ) and each of them seen watching the audio-video show with deep interest. Almost all part of goa is covered (The show repeats itself every 3 minutes and as such there could be upto 14 shows per day from 10-1pm 3pm-6pm from 21st-24th May 2008 at Menezes Braganza Hall, near Azad Maidan/Police HQ building, Panjim). The show may come to other places too. The fitting background music (sort of Sitar vadon ) reminds me of those days on Akasvanni Ponnje whenever there was a death of any Minister/politician at the centre there was a 3-7 days State mourning. Which means ‘black out’ on Akasvanni i.e. no regular programes and we were forced to listen to such ‘mourning music’ for upto 7 days. Congratulations to Mr. Rajan P. Parrikar. I feel development is needed in Goa, but ot at the cost of putting pressure on the existing infrastructure. The so called éxposers of the rape'should focus their attention on the actual rape of Goa through bad roads, bad water supply, bad electricity, public transport system, etc...cause that is what effects the Niz Goenkars...can someone photograph the ghantis who occupy top jobs in governmental offices? can anyone photograph the corrupt montris and expose them? any one? or does this anti development propaganda through photo journalism have a hidden agenda? [Goanet] rape of a woman in GOa [making constructive noise]
Date: 6 Mar 2008 10:08:47 - From: jane gillian rodrigues [EMAIL PROTECTED] the way, all Goans feel, which is - why should I bother, not my problem, someone else has raped the woman. But, unless, we all unitedly make a noise, the atrocities against all women in Goa will continue. Mario responds: Dear Jane, You and I are on the same side on this issue though I disagree with you on several details which may distract from your worthy objective. For example, I disagree that a) all Goans need to be ashamed, and b) all Goans feel that why should I bother, not my problem, someone else has raped the woman. To begin with, I have no idea how you know how all Goans feel. That's a pretty broad brush. Besides, I had no idea that our Goan culture, guarantees the freedom, respect and dignity of all women. There are atrocities taking place against women, and men, in every society. GUARANTEES? We haven't even been able to guarantee that Goans will not be discriminated against because of the families they were born into. How do you impose such a cultural guarantee? I am not aware of any such guarantees, though I believe that women, as well as men, should be treated with respect and dignity and not have to worry about being assaulted. Secondly, wouldn't the constructive approach be to first establish the facts? If you have followed this story, there is some doubt as to exactly how this young British girl was killed, while you have jumped to the conclusion that she was raped. What if the second autopsy finds that she was not raped? Thirdly, instead of indicting all Goans, male and female, accusing them of being callous and trying to put a guilt trip on an entire community, which will lead many of them to tune you out, I think you will do women a greater and more practical service by making noise and warning them to be careful, not just in Goa, but wherever they happen to be, and to also learn some of the fundamentals of self-defense. I will certainly join you in making noise about that.

A school teacher said, Eh, who knows about politics, I don't follow it. They're all crooks. A film columnist of Goan origin from Mumbai here for the IFFI, said If the Congress government is doing it, it cannot be bad. The BJP is bad. Locals I have met and spoken with about the Plan, make all the right noises, but you can see the bewilderment in their eyes. They don't understand what the fuss is all about. That Monserrate no? He only's doing all this things. The Save Goa forum was launched last week with a panel of passionate speakers, but one among them had a very simple message. Take our current problems he said, waste disposal, sewerage, electricity, roads, traffic management, vector borne diseases, abysmal public transport and finally potable water. These are sectors that seem to be barely adequate for 13,00,000 people, but are currently falling apart with the influx of tourists and migrants which more than double the standing population of Goa. That is the pathetic condition today. Imagine the chaos tomorrow. The projects that are being welcomed into Goa are non-polluting. They are deluxe starred hotels, luxury housing projects, non-polluting industrial estates, golf courses etc. There will be a continuous stream of people coming into Goa to stay, migrants and professionals. The housing colonies that are coming up will be islands of luxury, guzzling water, power increasing in number with no plans for garbage disposal. The Regional Plan makes no provision for sewerage or waste disposal. Huge areas of green forest land will be bulldozed and turned into concrete. The climate of this state will change. The initial burst of construction activity gave Goa varieties of malaria and encephalitis. Now we have been introduced to chikungunya and dengue. What next? The ancient rhythms of Goa which had disappeared in areas like Calangute and Mapusa will die out all together if Goa's hinterland turns into luxury playgrounds for the rich and infamous. Our living spaces will shrink; the famous gracious Goan lifestyle will be relegated to a few glossy coffee table books. Our children will curse us for allowing this Regional Plan of 2011 to see the light of day. The Plan is a deliberate, brutal and savage rape and murder on your daughter. said an angry Dr. Oscar Rebello. We want three answers to three questions: For whom is this development taking place? If it is not for us, sorry gentlemen, we don't want it. How fast is this development taking place? There is a pace for everything in life. When you are this fast you are wrong and you are trying to hide something. But however fast you run, we will catch you. What kind of development do we want? Once those projects are up there, once the land is devastated, once the hills are cut, then it will be too late for Goans to stand up and shout. This is a political battle with the survival of Goa at stake. We have to protest and protest loudly. Everyone is a Goan, who have the good of Goa at heart and out there is the anti-Goan who is also made up of Goans born in this soil, who are eager to sell out this land and destroy it. The very secrecy in conjuring up a Plan for the destruction of Goa as we know it should act as a Red Alert for us as a people.
