Flickr provide 1TB of photo storage free, so that’s an option. There’s a few
other services too. I guess it depends what you actually use Picasa for.
Personally, I’m leaving my stuff in Google Photos - I can’t be bothered to move
to an alternative service when there seems little point to do
So it depends what you’re talking about. If you’re talking about Picasa the
desktop application (where you edit your photos) then it will continue working.
My wife also uses Picasa to view/edit images, and with the Wordpress plugin
uploads images directly to her site. All of this is basically
I appreciate your reply Mark, though I'm a dummy when it comes to talking
API'S and over written etc... I primarily used Picasa to take photos from
my camera or scans from my printer, and then to edit and crop and present

Picasa desktop app instead, will they still be able to do this? If not,
They already gave several months' notice, I'd be *extremely* surprised if
this had any impact on their decision. The outcry about Google Reader

anyway (and the service isn't shutting, it's just migrating and having API
I am not sure it will stop working... The way I read the posts is that
retrieving of photos and albums will remain to function as it does now, but
the API will no longer allow us to create or alter any content. But since
all my Picasa photos are in Google photos as well and vice versa, I
