Craig,   Spectrum Scale is a posix filesystem so most backup applications will be able to back it up in some manner or another the backup applications that understand parallel filesystems will perform significantly better that those that do not.   Depending on what you are trying to achieve -

Remember though that HPSS is an archiving solution much more than it is a backup solution. Also it still has a very high entry point to justfy using it - I would suggest over 20 PetaBytes as a minimum. Having said that HPSS is fully supported by IBM and used by most of the very largest GPFS sites.

The only integrated solution, that is using mmbackup, is with Spectrum Protect.  However, you can use other products to backup GPFS file systems assuming they use POSIX commands/interfaces to do the backup.  I think CommVault has a backup client that makes use of the GPFS policy engine so it runs

You can backup GPFS with basically anything that can read a POSIX filesystem. Do you refer to refer to mmbackup integration? -- Cheers > On 29 Aug 2019, at 17.09, craig.ab...@gmfinancial.com wrote: > > > > Are there any other options to backup up GPFS other that Spectrum Protect ? > >
