that worked! thank you. i can see the data using 3D view, in data tab,
select 3d raster at bottom (scroll down), select 3d raster, draw: slices,
shading flat, resolution 1, select wire box.
then i can add slices. I havent mastered the system yet but i think i am
on the right track now. thank you
I sent you some time ago a video how to view 3D rasters using isosurfaces
or slices:
https://youtu.be/CmK-fEyf2SY
If you haven't added any isosurface or slice, you won't see anything beside
the 3D box.
Also, I recommend setting higher z-exaggeration.

I have pasted below the colors files for the 3d raster. The data is
there as i am viewing the wireframe around the data. the r3.color is set
to bgyr. therefore, i do not see how come the interpolated data does not
show up in the display. any ideas?

see https://trac.osgeo.org/grass/ticket/3571
please add your findings there.

how do you ensure that region is selected to the extent of the raster. I
think I already did this when making v.vol.rst.

i removed the 'r' and used elevation and bcyr as the color tables, see
below. Display window is blank.
to recap the steps:
1 - i selected the Mapset and also tried Map that corresponds to the 3d
raster
2 - then in Define tab, i only choose the Name of Color Table: bcyr, i have
not selected
Try removing -r from your command (unchecking the box in the GUI).
That flag is used to remove a color palette.

Vero

Hello,
That's probably because that palette is for integer values ranging from 0
to 360 [0]. Try with a relative one such as viridis or bcyr.

Hi,
I have created a 3D raster from soil properties with about 70K points, with
a* lot of help from the mailing list i must say*.
from the copy of the metadata of the 3d raster (below) it would confirm
that the 3D raster worked and the grid is populated with data.
I have copied below the
