Re: FOSDEM 2018 and announcing a GNU Guix/Guile day! After getting home...
BTW, it’s been a couple of weeks already, but I realize we didn’t write a summary of the Guix workshop and the discussions we’ve had over the weekend. It’d be useful for those who didn’t attend and for lurkers. Any volunteer? :-) If you make it plain text or Markdown, we can make it a blog post. Ludo’.

A devroom is more than one table, though. :-) In previous years, we shared the devroom with Lua folks, which worked well. Now, at FOSDEM, Björn and others thought it might be a good idea to have a Guix booth next time (like in the lobby of building K, if you remember.) If there are enough volunteers, we should definitely apply. If all of us can spend a couple of hours at the booth during the weekend, we should be fine. Ludo’.

Hello, It sounds like the event was absolutely amazing — I'm well jealous of everyone who was able to go! Heya! I confirm: this was a great Guix workshop and a great FOSDEM again! It’s so intense, to me it’s like living two weeks on three days. :-) I really enjoyed the intimate and focused workshop we had, which is in sharp contrast with the ever more crowded FOSDEM. That alone could justify pursuing the same approach in the coming years, IMO. At the same time, a devroom at FOSDEM proper is a good way to reach out to new people, which is also a good thing. Maybe we could do both? :-) Anyway, a big thank you to Manolis and to you Pjotr for taking care of all this, to Eelco for joining us and for an insightful talk as always, and to everyone for making it so pleasant to be there! FOSDEM 2018 and announcing a GNU Guix/Guile day! After getting home...
Hi everyone. This was huge. We had an amazing day with ~25 GNU Guix contributors and the father and project leaders of Nix, and it blew me away how much Guix has progressed in the last year and what interesting discussions that led to. I think the next phase we are moving beyond a 'standard' package manager with optimized builds, channels, workflows, provision and orchestration. All logical next steps because Guix is such a solid foundation :). FOSDEM was great too. It was busier than ever, but the crowd appears to be increasingly experienced too. In other words the FOSS community appears to be growing and feels very very solid! I thank everyone for joining, especially when you realise how much most of us had to travel. I, for one, feel very inspired! Pj.
