The effigy is pretty typical of upper class burials of the period, including
the fact that the clothing styles are mostly static from about 1470, or so.
The armor on the spouses is even more archaic. My ex-husband says,
I am reproducing the ensemble from the Margaret Fitzgerald tomb effigy, in
St. Canice's Cathedral, Kilkenny, Ireland. The headdress is the Irish
version of the heart shaped headdress. Any and all advice regarding
construction or application (kputting it on) would be greatly appreciated.

The French Hand Laundry, in Pasadena, California (yes, Rose Bowl Land), is
the place that gets recommended most in my area. I've never had that work
done, but they did wonders with a cream velvet bodice that had been badly
stored, and I know others that have had stuff done there.
I always explain that what we wear in my reenactment group are clothes.
Costumes would not survive the work-a-day life they get in our endeavors.
My title, suggested by a very discerning friend, is Historic Clothing
Coordinator. Grand, ain't it? ;D

Howdy,
My man has become a Fedora Fanatic and he's asked me for a source showing
the evolution of men's hats through the last century, to nail down his
preferred styles. He's looking for brim and crown changes over the decades.
Can anyone recommend resources for men's styles? 20th C. is right
August 5-8. Sorry.
