definitely too lightweight for an outer layer. I got a bunch from the
outlet store to use for lining facing, but this stuff is more like rustly
habotai; I can't give you ounces, but I'd guess it's 12mm at the most.

I found 2.25 oz. silk taffeta for $16.98/yard (denverfabrics.com)
I found 4 oz. silk taffeta for $22.00/yard
