There ya go!  Knew SOMEONE had to have a pattern!

 Ann Wass

Thanks Ann! And thanks to everyone else who offered suggestions.
I've passed them along, particularly the Harriet's pattern link. I
really did think that surely *someone* must have a pattern already --
surely there are WW I and WW II recreationists out there somewhere...

Gratefully yours,

Ulrika

I note this appears to have a side-buttoning, if any buttoning at all, rather
than the traditional front-buttoning bottom. Anyone got a thought on this; is it
for the simpler cut in making or can there be a practical aspect of naval
aviation of the time to consider?

other buttoned of both sides, One had zippers at calf length and the other had
5 buttons (calf) All the ones I have seen were?wool, twill weave.?

I have a great set of tailoring manuals, The Modern Tailor Outfitter by
Percival Thickett; this contains a great pattern for jodhpurs if you don't mind
the trouble of draughting -- even my dodgy legs look goot sticking out from
them -- you may be able to find the books at a larger library.

Oh, it also has some photos of pleasing window displays, information on
accounting for tailors and photos of a good tailoring workshop -- good if you
have a staff of a hundred and enough room to store an aircraft!

You can also use such books as a guide for modifying the shape of modern
pattern pieces, if you don't want to or have the skills to start from scratch.
While what I do is not as complicated as jodhpurs, I use modern commercial
patterns as a guide for making my early 19th century children's patterns. I
use diagrams taken from actual garments as a guide, but, by using the modern
pattern aswhat is called in flat pattern design call a sloper, I know the size
is standard, not made to whatever size the unknown child happened to be.

portsmans Guide has 2 styles of military surplus jodhpurs that might fit the
ill - they're inexpensive, and could be disassembled for a basic pattern. I
hink the 2nd one is closer to what you're looking for:

erman:

talian:

I would have thought this would be fairly easy to find, but I'm not
spotting anyone who has such a pattern. Anyone know of a good source?
