Not my cup of tea by any means but i'm tasked with setting up an ubuntu
10.04LTS server.
Two major irritations :
1) user password has a maximum of 8 characters, i've tried to change this with
passwd but it wont let me. (IMHO this is absolutely ridiculous and should NEVER
EVER be allow

I've spoken to ebay (on the phone), and they assured me of no downtime on their
system, but more importantly i've filed a report with them and asked them to
log my failed login attempts.

I have working NFS-ROOT machines, but as you may already know NFS is not

Best as-in best compression ratio most, cpu time and memory footprint are not a
