To me it would make more sense to use an Flash MP3 player with an line-in record feature. You have the best of several worlds, first, ablity to record and them download a complete MP3 file in seconds to be stored, edited on a harddrive and sent to CD or DVD's, two the advantage of an MP3 play

Thank you all for all the information. I also heard earlier from DXers that as long as outdoor aerials are operated with screened coax from the aerial to the receiver, there is no interference from the minidisc. However this is difficult when travelling with a portable receiver and a minidisc. And
