[HCDX] HCJB Last Day

2003-05-29 Thread Mickey Delmage

The Musical Mailbag program usually heard here local Sunday evenings on
HCJB will air it's final program this Saturday (Sunday UTC in NA) right
after the DX Party Line, thus at 0130 and 0330 UTC on 9745 to North
America. This should be the case for the European release also.

2003-12-04 Thread Mickey Delmage

Greetings all;

I received in the post last night a survey form from the Voice of America,
similar to the one I received prior to the BBC cuts a few years back. Am I
reading too much into this? More cuts to come?

Comments welcomed!

[HCDX] VoA QSLing

2003-12-04 Thread Mickey Delmage

Greetings!

In the upcoming QSL column in CIDX Messenger, two different DXers report
receiving several VoA QSL's and other goodies including mouse pads in recent
weeks. They (VoA) seem to get behind, and then all at once reply to a back log
of reports. I have noted this trend in the last 2-3 years.

I have had ZERO luck sending e-mail reports to the likes of VoA and even Radio
Netherlands, who are probably over whelmed with e-mails from listeners
regarding other questions besides a QSL request. I suspect e-mail requests are
moved to a file that is rarely looked at. Not that these stations are
purposely ignoring e-reports, it is just easier to forget about electronic
files. As they “say, out of sight, out of mind”. A stack of paper letters is
harder to forget about.

Just my opinion.

I have had them hear recently in Central Alberta. If you can catch them
between minutes 43 and 52 of the hour WWV does not broadcast the 500 Hz
audio tone so you can get better reception of the Brazilian IDs. As for
WWVH no audio tone from minute 9 to 11 and 14 to 20 each hour.

One shortwave schedule website lists 9910, 12120 and 15190 as your

 english frequencies.

Can you please clarify what are the correct frequencies and times for

What are the correct A16 frequencies and time schedule which ends this

[HCDX] ZANZIBAR

2017-03-17 Thread Mickey Delmage
Hi all

Something has gone terribly wrong with the usually very clean signal from
ZBC on 11735 kHz. Just noted today at 1930 UTC but come to think of it I
might have noticed the same thing is passing yesterday. Really too bad.
Almost sounds like they are being jammed but I would doubt that.

[HCDX] Radyo Pilipinas

2017-10-07 Thread Mickey Delmage
Anyone have any idea why many (short-wave info, shortwaveschedules.com,
EiBi and others) continue to indicate the 1730 to 1930 UTC broadcast of
Radyo Pilipnas as an English broadcast. I have monitored this station for
many years and other than some station ID's and the odd English words used
during interviews etc. this broadcast is in the Filipino language mostly
Tagalog. Today all 3 frequencies are coming in with various levels of
reception and interference on 9910 (noisy) 12120 (Good with CODAR) and
15190 VG at times with some intermittent interference when I started
monitoring at 1757 and now through 1842 UTC.

calling itself Chinaplus.
