It's called Partition Tragic for a reason.

How does one figure out a good asking price for a used laptop?
Model: HP Pavilon zt3280us
1.6 GB RAM
1.6 GHz Centrino
80 GB HD
15.4inch wide screen
Wifi, bluetooth, usual other ports
Good condition, a few scratches on case. Screen is perfect.
What would you pay (assuming you wanted a used
Battery condition? Warranty status? Screen resolution? Graphics chip?
For reference, I've calculated my I8600 to be worth around $600 based on
ebay prices.
1.5GHz Centrino, 1.5GB RAM, 60GB 7200rpm, 15.4 WSXGA+, GF-FX 32MB, 2 years
at-home warranty remaining, 11g+BT.

Anthony,
I would see what a comparably configured laptop goes for new. If there is
nothing comparable, I would try to interpolate what a new one would cost.
Then I would factor in the age and condition of the laptop to come up with a
number. I would also compare what comparably configured
Thanks.
I can't really say what the battery condition is, but it seems to hold a
charge for 2.5 hours or so.
It is completely out of warranty. The graphics chip is the Mobility Radeon
9200 w/64 MB ram.
Screen resolution: 1280x800 w/ 32bit color in default mode. The HD is the

Boy, this is very similar to mine:

I'd not pay more than $300 for that.

I ran across this same page too. It says zt3280us at the top, but in the
product name box it says zy3280us. Mine doesn't have a 17 screen or a
Geforce, or 128MB of ram.

I can be decisive, I think.
Anyone here tried one of the UMPCs out? Thoughts?
M2N-sli is very good. You can go with M2N32-sli but it isn't as kool of a
stepup to warrant the cash - check benchmarks
Real value in the MSI K9NU ULi board.

I myself use the Asus M2N32-SLI motherboard for my AMD Athlon 64 FX-62. I
have heard a lot of good things about this board. One bad thing though, the
2 of the SATA ports can not be used if you are going to go SLI.

Regards,
How do these two compare? I have someone looking for an inexpensive laptop.
One option is to sell her mine, which would be enough for her needs.
However, I don't want to give it away, as I can use it myself. So, in taht
case she would buy a new one. I see Celeron M laptops as low as $400,
I have heard very bad things about the Samsung one. Specifically in
terms of input.

Is there a way to make a P-M laptop not ramp down CPU speed? I seem to
remember once seeing an place deep inside where you could tell it NOT to
lower speed (at the expense of battery life, obviously).
Why would you want to do that? The P-M is very efficient at ramping clock
speed up to meet the instantaneous load requirements.
If your BIOS does not have a mechanism to disable enhanced speedstep, you
can use a utility like RMclock to force it to whatever profile you desire.
