Of the recent fiction, I think Life, After by Sarah Littman is superb
and I hope it wins the Sydney Taylor Award. Other top choices of mine
would be Eve Tal's Double Crossing and its sequel, Cursing
Columbus. I was disappointed that these didn't receive top recognition!

Some of our institutions have had their budgets cut very badly. We
simply can't pay increased dues right now.
At the same time, it might be time for us all to think about the
environmental impact. I also much prefer reading in print, rather
than on screen, but I'm thinking it's our
This came across through a colleague:

Dear Stephanie Gross,
So glad you referred to Adaire Klein's award by the Special Library
Association in your posting to Hasafran on Sept. 28. FYI, Adaire is
also a member of our local chapter, AJL of Southern California, and I
have uploaded the SLA article to our website for all to read.
Dear Librarians:
I was mistaken my sister was using LibrarySoft at her synagogue. She
does not have any Hebrew or Yiddish books to catalog just

I would also be very sorry if we did not have a printed
Newsletter. Perhaps the quality of the paper could be downgraded to
save money. I do know that many librarians use our reviews as the
best source for new Judaica materials.

Any suggestions? URJ has a new one called Entree to Judaism.

these are copies that the synagogue had available for people who did

Ted Koppel makes some very important points in his posting on the future of the
