[ha-Safran]: Automation software
Dear Safranim, I am compiling a list of all the library automation software that supports Hebrew characters. If you could let me know what you are using, I would really appreciate it. If anyone knows of a list that already exists, please send it to me so that I won't have to start from scratch. Thank you for all of your help. -- Sarah Burnstein Librarian Walder Education Pavilion 8150 McCormick Blvd. Skokie, IL 60076 (847) 674 - 0800 sburnst...@waldereducation.org --- Messages and opinions expressed on Hasafran are those of the individual author and are not necessarily endorsed by the Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL) === Submissions for Ha-Safran, send to: hasaf...@osu.edu SUBscribing, SIGNOFF commands send to: Listproc @ lists.acs.ohio-state.edu Questions, problems, complaints, compliments;-) send to: galron.1 @ osu.edu Ha-Safran Archives: Current: http://www.mail-archive.com/hasafran%40lists.acs.ohio-state.edu/maillist.html History: http://www.mail-archive.com/hasafran%40lists.acs.ohio-state.edu/history.html AJL HomePage http://www.JewishLibraries.org
Re: [ha-Safran]: Automation software that accommodates Hebrew
Surpass Library Automation Software also accomodates Hebrew to some extent. If you are interested in more detail, please contact me at <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>. I am also on a campaign to extend the Hebrew accomodations in Surpass, but the company needs to know there is really a market out there. If you would be interested in the ability to fully incorporate Hebrew into your library catalog, please also email me at the above address, so that I can pass along a number count to the head of the company. (I won't contact you in that case unless you ask me to.) I believe there is a great need in the small, Jewish library market for the ability to fully incorporate Hebrew. To those who contact me, thank you in advance for helping to make our voices heard! [ha-Safran]: Automation software that accommodates Hebrew
Hello, we are in the midst of trying to choose automation software. We, as most of the high school day schools, would like to have software that accommodates Hebrew. I have been speaking to many AJL librarians and except for one, they all wish they had automation software that accommodated Hebrew, but they couldn't find it. One school does have such software called Librarysoft by Brodart (www.librarysoft.com). I checked out this library's online catalogue and it only has a simple search but no advanced search. The librarian says that they do have an advanced search on one of their computers in the library. I was speaking to another librarian and we thought to suggest to our fellow member librarians from AJL who are interested in Hebrew compatible software that they might contact Librarysoft. Perhaps by so many Jewish Librarians showing our concerns, the company would respond by putting in an advanced search onto the on-line catalogues. If you are interested, please contact Librarysoft and let them know that there is a market out there that is interested in such software. -Esther Merzel Librarian, Ida Crown Jewish Academy Chicago, IL 773-973-1450 X135 === Submissions for Ha-Safran, send to: Hasafran at lists.acs.ohio-state.edu SUBscribing, SIGNOFF commands send to: Listproc at lists.acs.ohio-state.edu Questions, problems, complaints, compliments;-) send to: galron.1 at osu.edu AJL HomePage http://www.JewishLibraries.org
[ha-Safran]: Automation Software
I am looking for cataloging software for our small synagogue library. I noticed an ad in the AJL Newsletter for Right On Programs. Does anyone have experience in this area, with this software? Can you recommend a reasonably priced, and reliable software program? Our library has been renovated in the past 5 years. It is beautiful. The collection, though, has many outdated books and is not well organized or catalogued. We have approximately 2,000 volumes. As a library, we have no annual budget or staff. It is all contribution and volunteer based. We use the Weine classification system. The materials circulate on the honor system. My goal is to create a current, user-friendlly facility, that can be maintained informally.
