I'm curious if anyone has cut their tarp to be a hexagon so it can wrap
around the yurt and get taped up to the walls? Camp Danger recommends this
method, but doesn't go into much detail. I'm afraid the tarp will fray if
I cut it with scissors, and make it even worse if I tape it to the yurt
Hi hexapeeps,
I've been contemplating building an H2 until I saw this thread. How much
tape would it take to build an H4 if you are trying to economize on tape? I
have 1 roll, seemingly plenty for an H2. Would that be enough for an H4?
Thanks.

It's my understanding that the tarp would be taped onto the INSIDE of the
yurt, therefore be out of the weather. Because of this, I've decided to
use 3 painters tape to attach the tarp to the walls. I'll have another
tarp that will serve as a ground cover that I'll stake down flat to the
playa.
Are you sure you want the halo to run through your rebar? I'd worry about it
slipping off the roof entirely. Seems to me that you're better off with a
shorter halo, running lines from the rebar to reach it. I don't know, I'm
speculating, but I'm interested in the answer because I'm using a halo
Hi guys,
Just got an email from Bron tapes in Alameda. Apparently they just got a tape
order in today and have some spare.
The office number is 510-263-3770, ask for Kevin as he has the details.
Good luck!

Definitely tape tarp to the OUTSIDE of the yurt, folded up about 6 all
around. We put contact paper along the bottom of the yurt (Danger trick
again) to keep if from ripping up the yurt when disassembled.
I too have concerns about cutting my tarp down, but I saw Julie's and it
seemed fine.
I roughly trimmed mine to 6-9 and use wide painters tape to stick it
to the outside of the yurt. Taping to the outside seems to add
tension, pulling the walls together, and it keeps the dust and rare
rainfall out too. Does it make a huge amount of difference whether
it's inside or outside?
What I used was a Vornado 40 Humidifier, 120 VAC, 0.7A, 60 Hz. About $65
from Amazon I think, and I'm sure cheaper models could be found at discount
stores or online, but the key features you need to look for are a wicking
action (as opposed to pump) and without heater because there's no point
Just called. You have to order a whole case (8 rolls).

Eh? I'm not running the halo through the rebar; the tie downs I refer to
above run from the halo itself (which sits wholly on the roof a foot or two

My cocktail party structural analysis is that an angular force on the rope
multiples the force. That is if you have a tight rope with a certain weight in
the middle, the actual tension on the rope is a high multiple of the weight (it
takes much more resistance in the horizontal direction to
Hello! I'm headed to Burning Man soon and taking along my trusty Hexayurt.
After Burning Man my husband I are moving overseas and won't be making it
to the playa next year. We'll be looking to sell our Hexayurt and likely
our swamp cooler. The yurt is the standard 4 foot wall with Danger Hinges
