I'm a hg builder and i asked questions like yours to on the site but I

I'dd like to discuss these and others items like these but i think we can
better do this not on
Would it make sense to set up a Google or Yahoo Group just for makers
and those interested in building hurdy-gurdies? While I don't want to
fracture the group on this list, I wonder if a dedicaed group might
not attract those who don't want to participate on a general HG list.
It would

I'm not a builder and never will be (don't have the skills) but do enjoy
reading about the craft as I'm interested in the instrument and not just the
playing.
Maybe just adding building to the subject line would be enough or tech for
those not interested to push the delete button?
I'd really
I would be interested

Hi all,
I just set up a Google Group for those interested in building. You can
sign up at the following address:
http://groups.google.com/group/hurdy-gurdy-builders
In the group description I refer to this list for anything other than
building matters. I certainly don't want to undermine
Well,
If the consensus is to keep these things on this list, I am certainly
not opposed. The only reason for me to suggest another forum was
because I'd seen enough let's take this off list discussions that
interested me. If there is consensus to keep this here and people will
continue
While I'm not a builder myself and have no plans to be
one, I still find builders' discussions interesting,
and enjoy reading them on this list. They help me
better appreciate all the work that went into my hg.
I'd vote for leaving these discussions here, since
then I wouldn't have to check a
Hello,
I would prefer to keep discussions on one list. I would find it a good
idea thougt to always use meaningful threads. In case its a builders
question it could be common practice to start the thread with
building question
in the acctual case this would make:

Really, in looking back at the contents of this list from the time I joined, I
can say that this is definitely NOT a players list. There are very few
discussions of techniques, of arrangement methods, of playing techniques.
There is a lot of discussion of events, of bands, of music to listen
Dear HG List members
There are several issues I would like to address here. Please read them all,
as they concern you whether you are an active poster or a lurker.
First, I can appreciate that off-list discussions occur, which is appropriate.
There are many things that should not be discussed

Is this a personal thing or is there a problem with Google groups?

Hello,
I will not
I don't have a gmail at all. I'm with Virgin.net and it accepted mine.
Looking at those who have already joined, I don't see that anyone has a
gmail address either.
Out of pure curiosity (plus I love being a Sherlock and trying to find
things out ), what message are you getting to say it won't

The Google Groups help information at

seems to say that participation in a Google Group via a non-google email
address is possible.
It's pretty simple. I belong to several google groups and I don't have
gmail address. Google groups is much easier way to organize and receive
mail. - Jocelyn

I don't know much about google groups and the need for a google
account. I do know that on yahoogroups, although they strongly
encourage you to have a yahoo account, it is not necessary. I would
assume the same is true of google, though I might well be wrong. In
yahoogroups, you can join
