The only suggestion i have is to use that run_hammer.bat file you get in the
source sdk folder when you create a new mod.

This is definitely a bug that everyone else has experienced. The only
workaround is to use the beta sdk (-beta sdk at the command line). I
strongly recommend that everyone go into Steam, right-click on Half-Life
2 and the Source SDK, choose Properties, Updates tab, and choose Do not

If I change it to just AppID then it says Can't load
FilesystemOpenDialog.dll.

For what it's worth - I get this when trying to run GMod in debug mode.
I can only get it to run in debug mode by removing all the extra gfc mounts.

You can revert back to the non-beta SDK at any time by running Steam
without the -beta sdk parameter, launching the SDK and choosing Refresh
SDK Content from the SDK launcher.
