Re: [hlds] Windows Updater failures
Do what I do to walk around this problem until Valve fixes it (If ever), Update TF2 with steam, go to your /steamapps/ folder open up your TF2 game cache file, extract the /bin/, /tf/bin/ and /tf/steam.inf file and upload those to your server. Even with the updater working normally my plan above is faster because the updater tends to check a lot of files instead of updating just the needed ones. :) But a fully working updater would be awesome, Valve. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds

[hlds] Server crashing...something goes wrong on restart.
-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Hey guys, I'm having a problem with my Team Fortress 2 dedicated server. Occasionally, the server will hard crash (as all servers do) but when it hard crashes, when I try to reboot it (without updating with -verify_all first) VAC protection is disabled (enabled but disconnected from Steam3) and icons do not show up for people not in my friends list. I have to stop the server, run the updater with -verify_all, and restart the server for VAC and icons to return properly. Does anyone know why the server might be doing such on a hard crash? Is there a way I can prevent this from happening? It is quite irritating having to update the server every time it hard crashes (and as of recent it seems it's been doing so more often, so even more a reason for me to figure this out.) This has been happening every time the server has hard crashed since the TF2 beta release. Is there any known method of fixing it or debugging it? Thanks for any help, Cc2iscooL -- ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
Re: [hlds] TeamFortress 2 dedicated server update
A long time ago we requested a user-editable file for loading alternate game dlls and it got denied. We also requested a command line parameter which got accepted but never added; though that isn't as useful anyway because game server providers usually don't give access to the command line. Andreas, if you are looking for an alternate solution, please post on our forums ( http://forums.alliedmods.net/forumdisplay.php?f=74 ) and we'll think of something. ---David Anderson http://www.bailopan.net/ Andreas Grimm wrote: but what about the metamod line in gameinfo.txt ? -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Alfred Reynolds Sent: Thursday, November 08, 2007 8:25 PM To: hlds@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: RE: [hlds] TeamFortress 2 dedicated server update Gameinfo.txt is controlled by TF, it isn't a user editable file. [hlds] TS2 Not Updating: WinSock Error 10054 Connection reset by peer
Hello all, I see many have been having trouble with TF2 update. I'm having the same. I've tried about 7 times today already on the same server without success. I have tried with the normal update which doesn't complete. When I try to start the server I get some errors. I tried with the -verify_all switch a few times and keep getting this error: Connection Reset, WinSock Error 10054 Connection reset by peer So it doesn't complete the verification of files or the update. Valve folks what is the solution for this ? Please let me know I have customers that need to get on their game servers. Thank you very much for your helpful suggestions. LB __ Do You Yahoo!? Your 32 player server hacks are out of date. Re: [hlds] TeamFortress 2 dedicated server update
-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I did the update and now I still get the message Your server is out of date. Please update and restart. Yet i can now connect to the server and play. I run a couple 32 player servers and this happens on all of them. Am I correct in assuming this is due the the 32player server.dll? and once their is an updated version this will not be a problem for me? -- ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds

Re: [hlds] Windows Updater failures
-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I've tried that before but haven't been able to find all of the exact files. Would you mind being a little more detailed as i would also like to use this in the future. Even with the updater working normally my plan above is faster because the updater tends to check a lot of files instead of updating just the needed ones. :) But a fully working updater would be awesome, Valve. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds -- Kyle Cassidy 949.701.0759 cell http://Howies.TV -- ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
