Re: [hlds] CSS Update 27/10/11

2011-10-27 Thread teamb...@comcast.net
Game updates often change the way the game plays, looks or feels. They also
break things.

Historically, Valve has let us know about most updates here on this list,
including the optional ones because its the right thing to do and makes bug
tracking easier.

I hope Valve continues to tell us about all updates they release so we know
about them in case something breaks. Tracking down server problems is tough
enough under ideal conditions, and much more difficult when they are a result
of a ninja update we heard nothing about.

Thanks Tony. My fear was more directed at not receiving the mail. I've gone
through 4 different emails for this list because my servers start rejecting
them and we can't figure why. No spam assassin or any filters running. I've
resorted to a bigpond. never thought I would ever say that LMAO

Thanks for the update regardless.

Re: [hlds] Killing Floor Halloween Event Coming Soon

2011-10-27 Thread Dayle Flowers
Actually, it goes out on the HLDS list because we use HLDS to deliver
our Dedicated Servers. Most games on Steam do not do this, unless they
are using the Source Engine, but Tripwire exclusively uses HLDS to
deliver our games, even though they are on the Unreal Engine.

As for the question of when will this roll out?, we are not at liberty
to discuss that. We are actually lucky to be allowed to give any heads
up at all on it. Sorry guys.

[hlds] Killing Floor Update Issue - Windows Dedicated Servers

2011-10-27 Thread John Gibson
We've found a serious issue in the Windows dedicated server build for the
Killing Floor Halloween update released today. We're working feverishly to
nail down the issue. But in the meantime I would advise and request that
anyone running a Killing Floor Windows dedicated server please take the
server offline until we get this issue sorted. The game is essentially
unplayable on a Windows server at this point. Linux servers appear to be
fine, so for now players will have to connect to Linux servers.

What's the issue? People walking around as citizen, not being able to

Everyone,

We now have this issue sorted. It will require an update on all servers
including Linux and Windows to stay compatible, as we have to also ship a
client update to fix the issue. This update will be rolling out shortly.

unplayable on a Windows server at this point. Linux servers appear to be
fine, so for now players will have to connect to Linux servers.

Why do you think I hate when they announce when updates will be? Too
much competition getting the update right away.

And to everyone who has been waiting and watching for 5 hours, you
should use nemrun. It will save your life.

- Updated in-game abuse reporting tool to include option for reporting
abusive game servers

How does it work? Do you penalize the server after xxx reports or do you
check each reported server manually to avoid abusing this report tool?

My client just crashed a couple of times. Sourcemod seems to be causing
server crashes as well, but an update made my server more stable.

The client crash doesn't seem to be related with the server issue.
