Re: [hlds] Fw: L4D2 Steamgroups Borked?

2012-01-11 Thread John Moroney
If that doesn't work the way I fixed it was to actually install Steam on
the server box fully update it. Start Steam then the server. Stop
the server, stop Steam, re-start server as usual. No idea why but it
worked for me.

Hrrrm... afaik Fridays update
http://store.steampowered.com/news/7036/ broke the steamgroup servers
feature for L4D2. It never returns any of our servers now.
Anyone else? L4D seems to be working fine though L4D2 isn't. I'm
guessing the new function added broke it?

Re: [hlds] Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch Updates Released

2011-12-15 Thread John Moroney
The fix for STV doesn't work, not for DODS anyway. It is still reporting
the game server slots in the Spectate tab. The STV bot also doesn't show
until on the server.

Source Engine Changes (TF2, DoD:S, HL2:DM)
- Fixed a bug which caused Windows Aero Extensions video option to always be
enabled, regardless of setting. Disabling this can improve compatibility with
third-party programs and overlays, but may also affect performance.
- Fixed SourceTV showing player counts for the game server instead of the
number of clients connected to the SourceTV server

If STV is enabled it shows as an IP only in the Spectate tab which is not
disastrous but the main problem is that the STV cvars are totally useless. No
matter what amount of slots are shown using the cvars it only shows the actual
game server amount of slots. If the game server is password locked so is the
STV server. Basically the STV server is just an extension of the actual game
server. This issue has been around for many many months now without a genuine
fix. I had a workaround using the sv_master_legacy_mode 1 but this was
removed in a previous update just over a month ago. If a fix could be found for
this for all OB games it would be appreciated.

Just to expand on this, the STV isn't actually passworded. However, in the
same way that it picks up the details of the real server (players, slot
count etc.), it shows up as passworded, and so if you try to connect via the
UI, before the connect attempt it pops up a password prompt. Whatever you
type in is ignored, since it isn't actually passworded - you can connect via
the console without needing to specify a password.

[hlds] Plea to Valve: Fix STV For DODS

2011-11-03 Thread John Moroney
I know it is an old forgotten game to most but for those that do still
play the game would like updates to TF2 not to screw the game too much.
STV has been broken for an eternity. We had a workaround using the
sv_master_legacy_mode 1 command but that has even been removed now. STV
is only shown as an IP:Port now without the set STV name. In fact most
STV commands are now useless. The actual game server slots are displayed
instead of STV slots. So in other words if a 100 slot STV channel is
setup for a game server with 12 slots the STV will be 12 slots only. IT
USES THE ACTUAL GAME SERVER SLOTS!!! Passwords also migrate from the
fame server. A vast amount of DODS server operators would like to see
DODS move off the TF2 update schedule as CSS has even. Just fix the STV
at least or give us a workaround as we had before.

[hlds] STV No Longer Showing

2011-10-14 Thread John Moroney
Has anyone else come across a problem with the STV bot since the last
update? This is in relation to DODS, not sure about other games. It
shows it as connecting, joining spec, demo starts recording but no bot
is visible at all. The STV is not listed in the Spectator menu of the
servers list either. It can be joined by manually adding the connect
command in console though.

[hlds] L4D2 Server Error

2010-11-20 Thread John Moroney

Since the latest update my LfD2 server will only run in lan mode.

I get the following error: * Unable to load Steam support library. *
* This server will operate in LAN mode only. *

Did nothing out of the ordinary, just stopped the server updated. When
I re-started I received the following error.

Tried a full re-install as well only to receive the same error.

Commandline of F:\Servers\Left4Dead2\left4dead2\srcds11.exe -console
-game left4dead2 -ip 203.142.9.125 -port 27030 -maxplayers 8 +map

[hlds] STV Broken After Latest DODS Update

2010-05-01 Thread John Moroney
Has anyone else found STV to be unusable since the latest update? It
appears to load ok on server start up but is not listed as using a slot
in the server search or HLSW. In the Spectate tab it shows as running
but shows the actual amount of server slots that the game server has
not the allocated number of STV slots. If you try to join via this tab
it tries to connect you to the actual game server. IP Port are however
displayed correctly. The only way to connect is via console using the
connect ip:port command. The only problem here is that it then uses
one of the allocated slots of the actual game server.
Does anyone have a fix for this as a rollback is not an option this time
as clients can't connect on the last usable rollback? If not this needs
to be fixed asap by Valve.
