Heads up.
Insanity is upon us.
We'll include the Halloween map cycle file that we're going to be using on
about 70% of our Valve servers, so you can have an example for how you might
want to configure your servers.

There is a bug causing all gameservers to report that they are full,
preventing them from receiving matchmaking traffic.
It should be a small patch, and will be available in about an hour or so.

This change will impact server operators in at
Team Fortress 2 Beta:
* Fixed motd.txt file being in VPK instead of loose on disk. (This caused
custom motd.txt to not be used.)
* Linux dedicated server: Fixed srcds_run script calling old HLDSUpdate tool to

We have released a SteamPipe version of the Day of Defeat:Source dedicated

launch them? Just curious.

Hello!
Some beta steam binaries are available for testing. They have several
improvements meaningful to dedicated servers, mostly related to handling of
server browser packets such as the A2S_INFO packet that has been discussed.
If you do not set any environment variables, the new binaries
The previous change to pad the server browser query A2S_INFO packets has
triggered some aggressive Anti-DDoS filters for some games. This change was
made to address a reflection amplification attack in the protocol. So it looks
like we will need to address the vulnerability by securing the

Hello!
Over the next couple of months we will be releasing some changes to how servers
and clients using steamclent.so/dll handle the venerable Source engine A2S_INFO
message used by the server browser. This includes the Steam client server
browser, all Source engine games, and all Steam
. Only a set of
users will be using this client, and we are not quite to deployment step #1
described below.
