We have private tf2 servers eating 1200mb of ram...
Such an high memory usage isn't due to (not) statically linked
libraries... but it's caused by bugged source tv the is leaking so much
ram ...

Please don't break CentOS 5.6. I'm pretty sure many hosters use this
distro. Upgrading to CentOS 6 is afaik not possible and a
re-installation is a pain in the ass!

Are we going to be seeing an update tonight or will it be after the weekend?

I'm hoping post-weekend. I remember what happened with previous Friday
updates. The Linux vphysics.so issue from a few weeks ago comes readily to
mind.

Well the crashes still occurs so this update could have been a fix for the

Few Mb of ram usage in + is nothing compared to the Source TV leaking 1-2Gb of
ram :/
Flethcer please give us some feedback if you are working on the memory leak
problem.

No Orange Box update today. The one we wanted to release includes new steam
binaries, and they require new versions of libstdc++.so. Many older linux
distributions commonly in use do not have the proper libs, and they aren't
available simply by installing a package. So releasing it as is

I must say the increase in official valve responses on the lists as of late
is quite refreshing. I hope it holds up, and thanks for the update Fletch.

I guess this is a dumb question, but why doesn't Valve statically link
against the libraries they use? Wouldn't that solve the problem at a
slight overhead in memory for server admins?

Before mutli-core CPUs became prevalent, memory usage probably wasn't
much of a concern, but now it is, because you can stack so many more
srcds servers on a single host.
I bought a cheap 6-core AMD CPU for under $200 and run about eight
public srcds servers on it, and a couple extra
Does this mean it will be a required update when you guys do end up releasing
it? Thanks
