 Backup, restore, migrate Teradata data and objects
Establish and maintain backup and recovery policies and procedures;

 Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include

 Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as
submitted by the development team

Need at least  7 years of experience in Teradata tools and utilities
 Need at least 2 years Teradata Database Administration experience.
 Experienced in performance optimization techniques and Structured Query
Language (SQL) tuning. Demonstrated knowledge of Performance Data
Collection and Reporting (PDCR) and Database Query Logging (DBQL)
 Ability to write complex Teradata SQL queries, stored procedures,
triggers, functions
Practical experience in managing the internal and external Teradata
database security
Strong understanding of Teradata Load Utilities, MVC, TPT, BTEQ scripts
High degree of efficiency installing and configuring Teradata systems with
Teradata
 Expertise with installing, maintaining, using all the Teradata tools (ex

Minimum Requirements:

The consultant must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related
discipline or foreign equivalent with three to five years of progressive
post-baccalaureate work experience. This experience must include
Application DBA experience and responsibilities in a large Teradata
database environment either as a customer or as a consultant. In addition,
the resource must have current certification in Teradata Basics and
Teradata Database Administration or have an equivalent level of experience
in this role. The consultant must be able to work on their own with very
limited expert level support.


Basic Qualifications:

The consultant needs to be able to provide the following technical
capabilities:

• Lead in development of DBA standards and guidelines and develop UDF
scripts

• Work with DDL generators/development tools for handling DDL for volumes
of tables macros and views, ETL data cleansing design and code, tools for
data movement, and maintain change control during development

• Knowledge of various types of languages and tools such as SQL, C++,
stored procedures, macros, and ETL.

• Generation and maintenance of reports for Perm space usage trend

• Design and implementation of reports to monitor system usage and growth
trends

• Development of system resource and usage reports for management including
capacity calculation spreadsheets (for performance and capacity)

• Data definition maintenance utilities and administration

• Development of standard userid, role profile, development of security
access rights, code maintenance macros, code stored procedures for
maintenance of users access rights

• Understanding of access rights and implications in hierarchy of roles
profiles and rights (Understand the 3 types of access rights and how they
are acquired)

• PDCR knowledge and how to load various spreadsheet data using OLE load,
or TPT, Macro level performance tuning

• Good understanding of parallel specific concepts

• Identification of individual running performance issues:

• Monitor - Viewpoint, use of TSET, index wizard, other tools for tuning

• Ability to track running performance issues thru Viewpoint, identify hot
amps, On-the-Fly complex recovery of data via B/R

• Understand dynamic explains and track through optimizer steps

• Watch spool space per amp and look for spikes

• Identify and resolve many to many joins, know different types of change
data capture, temporal issues

• Work with Teradata Customer Services on Database fixes and releases


Preferred Qualifications:

A Masters degree in computer science is highly desirable as well as current
Teradata Certification in Physical Database design, Teradata SQL and a
Teradata Masters Certification.

Specific preferred technical expertise includes:
• TASM including identification and prioritization of workloads
• Experience with translating logical models and other schemas to optimize
Teradata physical models
• Semantic view and table layer development
• Access Layer development
• Understand business terms and ability to understand relationships in the
data model
• Understand of physical table relationships, and ability to architect for
data transformation
• Experience with Active or Dual Active environments
• Experience with Data Mover
• Experience in Host software (MVS, VM, etc.)
• Unix/Linux OS expertise
• Experience with other Relational databases such as Oracle, DB2, and

Teradata Managed Services assumes broad operational responsibility for a

Summary Description:

This person will work as part of a team and collaborate closely with
customer applications developers and DBA’s in support of development
projects and specific tasks that will be assigned to TD Managed Services.
There will also be required interface with customer’s production DBA’s and
our Global Consulting Center staff who provide offshore support. The
ability to communicate well, determine requirements, co-ordinate and assign

physical data modeling, primary and secondary index selection and then

Minimum Requirements:
