I've experimented a little with the above problem and I noticed that by
running make install Hugin installs as expected. So I assume there is a
problem with the package creation.

I've just upgraded to Ubuntu12.04 and I'm trying to re-setup a Hugin build
environment. I created a deb package as per instructions in the wiki but
when I run dpkg -i hugin... I get the following error:

I've just compiled the svn version of the Panotools and tried to test
ptomorph by running the following command to an existing pto file of a
Huign project with stitching errors (360x180 handheld pano made of 16
photos):

(version 0.8.0.3563) on my ubuntu Intrepid 64 bit and tried it.
