Ed, Doesn't a 6250 reel tape only hold about 30MB of data, so you were sorting about 750MB? Working on SORTWKnn must total twice your input file you are talking three SORTWKnn of about 500MB. I can't imagine why it would be such a hard thing to figure out... Ron Thanks for mentioning that.

HFS restore using DSS

Can anyone tell me how to restore a multi-volume z/OS HFS using DSS and end up with the restored HFS in 300 cylinder extents? DSS is so 'smart' that it always deletes my pre-allocated HFS and tries to make 9000 cyl extents. Guess what, I want to put the HFS on some MOD-3's instead of MOD-9's.
