Hi listers,
I have a situation here where we have 2 VTS libraries. Problem is that we are
having this ..
12.00.14 STC17544 *ARC0960I VOLUME=126626, LIBNAME=V1VTS1, STORAGE 046
046 ARC0960I (CONT.) GROUP=SGFCVTS
Hi Listers,
Last weekend, we POR'd a processor to reconfigure some memory from the
sysprog's LPAR to another LPAR.
Sysprog's LPAR was 2048 and reduced to 1088. Actual HSA is 1088. Now we
could not IPL the sysprog's LPAR.
We are seeing 'START PENDING' for all the devices. Anyone has any idea?
Thank you to Jay, Ken and John who have responded. John, I was
enquiring regarding the logical virtual
scratch volumes that I was hoping to reduce so that I could free some
stacked volumes.
Is what you have indicated below is what I was enquiring? If it is, I
will get on with it straight
away!
the logical
scratch volume? If not, please
correct me.

Can someone please point out what is wrong here for this job? All I am

Thank you all who replied offline and online. Now I have downloaded a
copy of the book and it will help us.
I really got to ask the next dumb questions. Is it advisable to check if
the volume is really empty? How do I check
if there is really no data?

Hi listers,
I need help urgently for this issue. I have tried to 'del nscr' and then
'del nvr' still
without success. Any help is greatly appreciated. Below is what we see
in the job
IEC331I 042-006(043D57D3),INIT,ABCBAT1J,SCRT,IGG0CLH0
IEC331I VOL,ABC123,NAME,PROD.LOADLIB

Thanks Shane. Applications have changed their loadlibs to PDSEs as they
are fed up with directory issues.
Looks like I will have to monitor what other jobs are referencing to
this dataset before we attempt another
run to delete the dataset even with 'disp=old'.

Thank you all who responded. The datasets were migrated after changing
'low threshold' to 1 as
suggested. It was set to '60' previously.

I hope this list is for dump as well as the smart people. It only takes
a dump question to get the
smart one to answer. I always like to use TSO ISRDDN to free my
dataset. Check it out as I found
a lot of users do not know of this. I have been questioned by the
security team is this a tool for
We do nothing of that kind here, we do not restrict the use of ISRDDN.
In fact I told security about it as he
wants to see his datasets allocation for his TSO. I am encouraging them
to use and they just learned about
SJ on the output in SDSF. Every new thing they are learning from me,

Hi listers,
What SMF records should I be looking if I want to find if someone has
deleted an alias for a user?
I have downloaded DAF and it is not giving me what I want to find (for
security team). Any ideas?

Thank you Kees and Gerrit,
The DAF actually works! I have to get it off the correct system SMF (one
out of three). My appreciation to
all who help and especially to Mr Michael J. Cleary for supplying DAF.
Yes, it was SMF 65. Thank you.
Hi Listers,
We have activated DCM for our DASD. We seems to be seeing lots of

for the managed dasd. I have logged an etr with IBM, but I would like to

Hi Listers,
Sorry for long text. Cross-post to get more exposure.
We have one of the OSA-Express 1000Base-T configured for Non-QDIO for

Hi Listers,
We have a request to look into utilising 8-chars userids. First reaction
from the
team was 'No', but we have to put forward our arguments. So we need to
put up a list
of 'pros' and 'cons' on this request. Any help to formulate the list is
appreciated.
Thank you.
