Does anyone here have any example code / links / info on writing ipltext
with ICKDSF on z/vm 6.2 or vmEsa 2.4?
I've read through GC35-0033-42 (ICKDSF Users Guide and Reference v
17), but it "stops short" on the details of how to include either the IPLDD or
BOOTSTRAP text in an exec file.
thx

Does that make the command area bigger?
On some applications it doesn't. Even worse, in some cases it wraps the input
area
in a pillarbox, making insertng characters painful.

Make your screen bigger :-).
You should be able to end a line with \, enter it, then continue with more
stuff.
Or, edit it into a script file.

If you are typing a long command that will not fit on the command line, you can
use the \ (backslash) continuation character at the end of the first line. When
you then press , the

When I enter TSO OMVS on my ISPF screen, is there a way to make the command
area larger than 2 lines.
I have a long command I want to enter that doesn't fit on the two lines I
currently have.
Apologies is this is a basic
Thanks Mike.
The apps I'm working with already have their own APPID, for profiles, etc.
As for PASSLIB, my understanding is that's required for the LIBDEFs to be
effective for the app, if they are issued before the SELECT NEWAPPL.
i.e.
a) in some menu: SELECT (%SETUPXXX)
SETUPXXX:

Steve,
Forgot to mention that NEWAPPL is *required* when your application has
its own application commands defined in an application command table in
the ISPTLIB concatenation. ISPF can't honor the application commands if
it can't find the

Well manually, no. I can think of two tools that can do it on the fly, SRS and
STOPX37, but they also tailor the index extent size, unless it's RRDS. A VSAM
file is really two space allocations, one for the DATA portion and one for the
INDEX portion.
Alter would only work if the file is

I'm building some clists for a couple of applications that will LIBDEF
their libraries, instead of having them concatenated. I see two subtly
different ways to do these: a) SELECT the clist, which after the LIBDEFs,
SELECTs the product's main entry with NEWAPPL & PASSLIB. b) SELECT the
clist
