Gil,
It is quite simple to convert the Julian date to Gregorian date using DFSORT.
All you need is another IFHTEN statement to process the julian date
>>. I am trying to use SORT to process a LISTCAT to give me part of the DSN and

Don,
Use the following Untested DFSORT control cards which will give you the desired
results.
//STEP0100 EXEC PGM=SORT
//SYSOUT DD SYSOUT=*
//SORTIN DD DISP=SHR,DSN=Your Input Listcat VBA
Message me off line and I will share what works best for what we need.
No pretty enough to post here but gets what I need for info
Best Regards
Doug

So I will post it in plain text, and you can cut/paste into notepad or 3270 to

Why !? This is at least conceptually a simple operation; why should it be so
difficult technically that IBM hasn't mastered it in the many decades that
FDR has been
IBM Java support figured it all out.
Java8 uses instructions from the instruction set on z10 and higher
machines. And WE are using a z9 2096 machine.
ERGO S-0C1 was for "ain't no such instruction" rather than the usual not on
a half word boundery.
Thanks for all your help. Wish they would either
Hi David,
I've read enough of your highly informative posts to know you know about the
need to rename each individually if using DFDSS but wrote my response for
posterity sake, in case somebody else came along and misread something into
thinking they could do a mass change with wildcards.
Hi Rex,
Yeah, I know.
That's why I do each one individually with my ISPF Editing tricks.

Like I said earlier, FDR can do that. But, if you don't have FDR.

If you want to rename all foo.** to bar.baz.** then a simple REXX script should
do it. If you want to rename some but not all then I'd probably write an ISPF
dialog using table services.

There is a PTF for that. I can’t remember off the top of my head what it
is though. I had opened a problem on that very thing and IBM did create
the fix for it.

Hi David,
I think the issue is that James wants to move these datasets and prepend a new
HLQ onto each of them without the need to rename each dataset individually.
Unfortunately DFDSS doesn't provide that as an option. I've occasionally
wished for the same function, something akin to

Dear Listers,
I tried PING and TRACERTE and failed because the firewall blocks ICMP and the
UDP ports.
What I really need to diagnose my problem is a port of the Linux command

this command on z... So, I am calling
