When you say the HMC also failed, can you describe what happened. Did any
messages show up at all, did you define the HMC in your console parms? Did you
maybe forget to just V CN(*),act?

How would you restart CONSOLE address space if the HMC is down too? (I have no
idea if that is possible even if HMC was available).Sounds like a
standalone dump and IPL might be in order.

I miss-coded an exit and provoked a loop in the console address space.
Fortunately I had the Ca-Sysview to see at what address the exit was looping,
and then I altered the memory to branch to zero, and after an svcdump, the
console address space was no more looping.
