Good move, but maybe you only solved the dataset part of the problem.
I think, you still have the VTS part of the problem: if the volume is still
mounted on the unit, both the volume and unit are still not usable for MVS. You
can call IBM
it was dismounted.

The drive is online, I assume? Try the unload command: U .
Or Vary the unit Offline.

mounted, so it will not issue a Rewind / Unload command.
