An SRB is initially dispatched with the home address space's Basic Access
List, which is in ELSQA.
If you subsequently ALESERV ADD something, then a new access list is obtained
from a pool in ESQA.

It is with great sadness that I have to inform this forum that Bob Shannon
passed away unexpectedly last week aged 75.

Bob was the systems programming manager at Rocket Software from 2003 until his
retirement in 2016.

He was a real character, and anyone working at Rocket during that time will
have memories of Bob that will make them smile.

During his long career he was also a developer at Compuware, however many
people on this list probably know Bob from his work with Share on the MVS
project track.

He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Vicky, and two daughters.

A knowledgeable and helpful man, he will be fondly remembered and keenly missed.

≫ Are VSAM GDGs supported? I created the GDG base using the JCL below and was
able to create the first generation, but when I run that job again it tries to
create generation 1 again, giving me a JCL error because the GDS already exists.

Frank,

Check this.

GENERATIONDATAGROUP
Specifies that a generation data group (GDG) entry is to be defined. A GDG
can contain both SMS- and non-SMS-managed generation data sets. A generation
data set (GDS) cannot be a VSAM data set. If you create a GDG and its catalog
is on an SMS-managed volume, you should remove any dependencies on pattern
DSCBs. See z/OS DFSMS Using Data Sets for information about GDGs and GDSs.

To create a new gen you should be using PROD.CVSC.AHI.BKP(+1)

Re: VSAM GDG

2023-09-26 Thread Mike Schwab
Try adding the (+1) to the define, or .G0002V00 if that doesn't work.
And even if G0002V00 is created, it might not be part of the gdg. You
would have to go through the limit to test the automatic delete.
