Prior to IBM introducing OMVS to z/OS, the term USS was used by VTAM as the
acronym for Unformatted System Services. Once OMVS was introduced, I do seem
to remember a bit of discussion on the use of USS, as VTAM folks used it, and
it was starting to be used by the folks pushing for more use of

That is a doozy! We had a tech writer-supposedly experienced-who we had to
stop from "fixing" things like "userid" and "fileid" (this was on a VM
product). She wanted "CP QUERY USER ID" and "Enter file ID" and like that.

I've seen some doozies, but this takes the cake. Anyone else have an example of
a author blindly assuming that an upper case word needs to be explained with a
totally wrong expansion? Yes, There is a Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND),
but it has nothing to do with logical units or even SNA .
