CA View documentation has information on how to convert output to a PDF.
I don't know if an additional product is needed, but we do use it
internally. It may be something you already have and can enable.

You could transfer to a sequential file and then go into ISPF Edit and
enter the line command TF72 (text flow) on the first line.

Yes 3590 is generic rather than an esoteric that you can define at your
site.
If you are just referring to the data set with DISP=OLD or DISP=MOD, and
not specifying "UNIT=", the system will assign the output device based on
the catalog entry. This was helpful when my previous site converted
We do not have any 81 byte records in the holddata files. PTFs and holddata
both require fixed 80 byte records There are some "packed" holddata files
that have a different LRECL. If you select the packed files, you will need
to unpack them with AMATERSE before processing with SMP/E.

Hi Jake,
I work on CA Allocate and CA Disk. From a customer perspective you can
apply the compatibility PTFs for a new z/OS release to these products and
continue to run on the current z/OS release. We assemble the
compatibility PTFs with macros from the new release. Outside of the

Sorry to see this. Good luck to you and hope you can find something that
suits your requirements.
Though we aren't a "work from home" employer, I did check our Careers

look, and if you find something that looks
If a PTF has a ++DELETE, it will contain ++HOLD(sysmod-id) ...
REASON(DELETE) etc. You cannot restore those PTFs. The statement
will look like
++DELETE(lmodname)
That is not to be confused with PTFs that delete MOD, MAC, or Data Element
entries. Those would look like ++PNLENU(ABC) DELETE

Hi John,
The easiest way to "re-duplex" would be to run MERGE, using the duplex
volume as input.
You would specify the original volume key. The merge process will see that
the primary volume is disabled, so it will use the duplex volume as input
to the merge. It will create a new duplex as
The SMPLOG should be allocated to a VB sequential data set with a DISP=MOD

situations to see the sequence of action when a customer has a question.
SMPLOG in the sysout is only semi-readable since the data and time stamps

I worked at a telco in the 1980s and the 3033, 3032, and 3033MP were water
cooled. There was a 3037 PCDU (Power/Cooling Distribution Unit).
I think the 3031 was air cooled.

Enjoy your retirement. At least you will know when the clock strikes 1, 2,
3, or 4, you won't be getting a call from Operations.
