I totally agree with Sudhwna that its easier to reinstall then to struggle
hard to clean the the system but for any reason if you cannot re-install and
u have to fix the same one then you can use some tools like ballistic and
others to judge the current state and try to find out the
Kernel mode-setting (KMS) shifts responsibility for selecting and setting up
the graphics mode from X.org to the kernel. When X.org is started, it then
detects and uses the mode without any further mode changes. This promises to
make booting faster, more graphical, and less flickery.

You can easily do it with WINE.
Also for many servers running on windows have their client side applications
available in linux tar balls so u can search for your application as well

Well I think the following can help you out.
1) for having a guest account simply create a account with any name
(probably guest) that will never ask for password at login so you don't have
to tell the password to everyone (if u want that account to be for public
use)
