[imp] Dynamic View Questions
I have been using the Dynamic interface for a while, it has some great features - but I have a couple of questions. 1. I can't find a way to View Thread like in the Traditional interface - am I missing something obvious? 2. In Traditional you can "Clear Sort" to return to Pref-specified default sorting, is that available in Dynamic? 3. You can't mark a message as "Answered"? The View Thread capability is particularly missed - especially for Mailing Lists. Seems a shame to have to go into Preferences, tell Dynamic not to launch, then back into Imp to view the Threads, then reverse the process. Should I log an Enhancement request? Or is it there and I'm just blind... :) -- Simon Wilson -- IMP mailing list Frequently Asked Questions: http://horde.org/faq/ To unsubscribe, mail: imp-unsubscr...@lists.horde.org
Re: [imp] Dynamic View Questions
Quoting Michael M Slusarz : Quoting Simon Wilson : I have been using the Dynamic interface for a while, it has some great features - but I have a couple of questions. 1. I can't find a way to View Thread like in the Traditional interface - am I missing something obvious? It's right there next to Subject (if you mean sorting by thread). If you mean viewing an entire thread on the same page, then no. I've always found that feature very cumbersome and not that useful, and have toyed in the past with removing it completely. At a minimum, I would like to redo it for the dynamic view. I find it very useful for Mailing List discussions - it's great to be able to view in one piece, and then hit the "Delete Thread" icon once finished with it. Particularly when you get 20 or 30 emails in some discussions, to read / delete manually takes ages. Personally I'd be disappointed to see it go, and would like to see it in Dynamic. 2. In Traditional you can "Clear Sort" to return to Pref-specified default sorting, is that available in Dynamic? Right-click on the sort bar. Suggestions for where else to put it are welcome (but NOT in Other Actions. It doesn't fit in there). OK, found it - it's not very intuitive to find. Hmmm... Consistency with Traditional would see it in that header bar, but that would necessitate sacrificing a whole row of real estate for one small item. What about on the Command Buttons row next to Other Actions but dynamically - only show if a sort is applied, like Traditional? 3. You can't mark a message as "Answered"? You are not supposed to be allowed to mark a message as Answered manually. This flag is defined by the IMAP spec for a very specific purpose - it must only be sent when a message has been successfully replied to. You can always define a tag if you want something that you can manually control. michael Only reason I mention this one is because you can do it in Traditional. Thanks for the responses Michael. [imp] Empty Trash causes timeout - Bug?
Hmmm... I still have H3/Imp4 setup on my old server, pointing to the same IMAP server, and I can "Empty Trash" successfully, comes back almost instantly. On the new H4/Imp5 server, hitting "Empty Trash" in either Dynamic or Traditional times out: [Mon Jun 13 18:54:27 2011] [error] [client 59.167.157.243] (70007)The timeout specified has expired: proxy: error reading status line from remote server 192.168.1.170, referer: https://mail.simonandkate.net/imp/mailbox.php?mailbox=SU5CT1g [Mon Jun 13 18:54:27 2011] [error] [client 59.167.157.243] proxy: Error reading from remote server returned by /imp/mailbox.php, referer: https://mail.simonandkate.net/imp/mailbox.php?mailbox=SU5CT1g Once that has happened, nothing works in H4/Imp5 without returning the same errors, until I restart Apache on the Horde Server. Bug #10224. Also, please don't post error messages from your proxy, since they are worthless. michael Thanks Michael. My apologies - the proxy was the only log that had anything that seemed at all relevant. However, this is not fixed yet. Just updated to the new releases this morning (H4.0.6, I5.0.7), and tried to Empty the Trash folder in Dynamic view this evening. Instant Segfault in Apache on the Horde box. [Wed Jun 15 22:09:15 2011] [notice] child pid 14367 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) I have a "trap" that runs and picks these up and restarts Apache when it detects a SegFault (APC causes them occasionally) so the impact is just a couple of "Error when communicating with the server" messages (and trash not emptied). Thought that may have been coincidence, so retried, and again instant segfault. Same error in Apache logs. Even at Debug level I am not seeing anything that I can pick as relevant in the Horde log. Does exactly the same in Traditional View when I hit Empty Trash, and this is reproducible at will... You are partially correct. For me also this much works. But, I have created contact lists within my address book. I hope you have used feature of contact lists in 'my address book'. We can group existing email address available in 'my address book' with a common name as contact lists. In H3/IMP4, even those contact lists names used to get expanded to corresponding email addresses, which is not happening in current version. I request you to try creating contact lists two addresses available in your address book and see whether the contact list name gets expanded to corresponding email ids. -anant. To: imp@lists.horde.org Quoting Michael Wing : When composing a message, after typing a few characters into the "To" field, the autocomplete brings up a dropdown list of matching addresses. Is there any way to make it so that the address is actually populated IN the To field? For instance, if there is only one matching address, currently I still have to hit Tab, or the down-arrow to select that address. That is correct. Ideally, that one single address would be automatically populated in the To field. This is a terrible idea. Just because there is one entry, doesn't mean that this is the *correct* entry. That is a dangerous, and incorrect, assumption. Particularly given the current bug where Imp matches email addresses to contacts with multiple emails, but only returns the first email address as an auto-complete match. This is a very common scenario: 1. Enter a few characters. 2. Auto-complete comes up with 1 entry, but it is the wrong entry. 3. User realizes that maybe he doesn't have address of user he wants to send to, so he wants to cancel auto-correct. 4. Incorrect auto-correct entry is populated in address box. It is correct UI to require the user to verify that the address is proper/correct. An address should NEVER be automatically inserted into the address field without user verification. michael ...which, BTW, is what Outlook does - when entering text it offers matches, but you have to physically select it (with either mouse or by hitting Enter) for that suggestion to be accepted. [imp] All my PGP signed messages marked as BAD
I have been noticing my PGP signed messages have been flagging as BAD signature when sent to list, but just looked a little harder, and can't find a single email that I have sent AT ALL in two years that Imp is showing GOOD signature for - yet I know that it has been fine before, as I tested it when I first started using it. Now if I go back to those messages that I sent to test it, even they all show up as BAD, even though at the time they showed as GOOD. :( Messages I send now and then go and check immediately in Sent are shown as BAD, so it's not that these have been modified somehow... If I command line test PGP on the Horde server with keys taken from Imp's preference pages I get the following: Sign a text file: [simon@emp06 simon]# gpg --sign < im.txt -o im2.txt You need a passphrase to unlock the secret key for user: "Simon Wilson " 1024-bit DSA key, ID BF5BE442, created 2011-05-18 Verify it: [simon@emp06 simon]# gpg --verify im2.txt gpg: Signature made Thu 06 Jun 2013 11:56:34 PM EST using DSA key ID BF5BE442 gpg: Good signature from "Simon Wilson " gpg: WARNING: This key is not certified with a trusted signature! gpg: There is no indication that the signature belongs to the owner. Question though, what effect does that have on all the pear and pecl modules that are installed? I imagine if I stick within php 5.3 probably not much? Indeed. They will all use the same API, so as long as you stick with PHP 5.3 any PECL module compiled can be used. But what about if I go to php 5.4? You'll need to compile the extensions again after upgrading to 5.4, since the API will have changed (which will also be reported if you attempt to use an extension compiled for an earlier version). pecl install -f ... After restarting the webserver, you should be good to go. Thanks Arjen - to clarify, if I go to 5.4 would I need to reinstall all pear packages as well? That could be painful. Or just pecl? I don't want to break things just because I don't understand the relationship between installed pear and pecl modules, with the system's version of PHP. I have a couple of questions on the admin functionality, but will take to the mailing list rather than here. Michael pointed out where I had backends.local.php configured incorrectly, but I have a couple of questions that are probably better suited to the list than bugs.horde.org. Firstly, if I enable Horde to auth via an application/imp (rather than LDAP) with an admin section in imp's backend.local.php with password, username and userhierarchy, then admin/user.php shows the "Users in the system" that are in the IMAP system as expected. However I don't see any other "mailbox management" functionality - are there other things that I need to do, or is the 'add user' and password all that can be set? Can you reconstruct folders, set quotas...? Secondly - with the admin section having a username and password in backends.local.php, doing an Edit ACL in Imp with a debug set in Imap.php shows the admin login/password as specified in backends.local.php. Is it editing the ACL as the user that called it, or as admin? Finally - with the admin section commented out in backends.local.php, a httpd restart with horde-clear-cache, backtrace/debug on Imap.php still shows 'administrator' username and password being used for an Edit ACL, yet it's no longer set... I am not using php caching, so am not sure where it is getting it from? I reported that this has been on the IMP TODO list for sometime, but would be a complex and time-consuming undertaking and one that would need to be funded in order to occur. There was positive feedback about going the crowdfunding route, so it has been decided to attempt this method to see if it can succeed. Not to mention, this is an interesting social experiment regarding this new method of driving innovation at an open source software level. The fundraiser page can be found here: http://tilt.tc/Evs2 Important note: NOBODY is charged unless the full funding level is reached. (Side note: I initially was going to use bountysource as the host, but they charge 10% regardless of whether the project reaches its goal or not. In other words, if the goal is not reached everyone who pledged would receive a refund minus 10%. Obviously I am hopeful that this won't be an issue since we will be successfully funded, but it is entirely unacceptable to charge people for nothing in case this doesn't happen -- thus the move to Crowdtilt, which only charges if successful.) Re: [imp] Printing
Dear List, After updating to IMP 6.1.6, when I print a mail, it gets printed with very small size font (unreadable). I am not sure, whether it is a local problem or not. But, when I use the same printer with some other application, it prints properly.(even with same browser, print is OK). Only when I use Print icon under Mail, it is printing with very small font size. Can anybody confirm this? -- Regards Anant Hi Anant - I just tested here and it printed fine. [imp] Printing from 6.1.6 crashes Chrome session
If I try and print a certain email from Imp 6.1.6 in Chrome, the print view window comes up briefly then closes before it displays any content. Nothing prints, and the Chrome Horde tab no longer works. Clicking on anything else in Horde does nothing functional - it looks like it is trying to display what I click on, but it is effectively dead. Close the tab, open a new one, go straight back in, and all good - until I try and print again. In IE 10 and Firefox, it doesn't do it - the print view opens correctly, and the same email can be printed. I have closed Chrome, opened, cleared browser cache, and tried again, but no change. I restarted Apache in case it was back end not client, but also no change. There are no errors visible in Chrome, nothing in logs - and I can't do an F12 debug on the print window as it disappears too quickly. Other emails print fine from Chrome. I can fwd the email, but would rather not to the list. There appears to be something in this one that is killing something - suggestions? The (redacted) message below is all base64-encoded text/plain and has no plaintext part. It views fine, but when replying to it, it is not quoted. We have no issues with the original HTML + quoted-printable messages from the same sender, but their replies to our replies always come in this base64-only format (I wonder if their Barracuda spam firewall is doing this?) This *faintly* sounds like an issue that may have occurred many years ago, but IIRC it was either an issue with a specific PHP version (possibly dealing with variable references) or has long since been fixed in IMP and/or Horde. michael Indeed, I was going off this old ticket[1], though the difference is that person got raw base64 in the reply quote; I get nothing. PHP version is 4.3.1; currently I can (if necessary) upgrade to a later 4.3 version, but I'm not able to go beyond that without full code-review of the other application on the same server. Do you mean 5.3, or are you really running a 10 year old PHP? Horde platform is groupware-H5 pear on Windows/Apache2.2, all up to date excepting imp-6.1.5 (and I see nothing in changelog that might address this). Strange, because IMP tested 100% the last time I looked at this a few months ago (believe it was 6.1 branch). On all browsers. http://bugs.horde.org/ticket/12886 Not the same issue I don't think. This is an img srcset tag that is triggering, not SVG. I don't think that's the same - plus it'll vary by site. If IMP is configured to display inline images automatically (though I don't have an SVG viewer defined), then the tests associated with the image tracking will go red. If your account is set to automatically respond to read requests, then another set of tests will go red. My install is set to not show anything inline, or take any action, without user intervention. I thought that was the default and my install passed 100%, except for the case of Chrome and what I assume was due to the Javascript in the From address, maybe that check has been added or Chome changed since December.. Rick -- Interesting - it only triggers when opening from Imp in Chrome. Open up Horde in Firefox and open the email and it does not trigger. Purely as a matter of interest - Samsung email on my S4 opens a webpage triggered by the email. Very nasty and very wrong. It also triggers the Audio tag. You don't 'create' a remote account in that Preference page, you provide details on how to access it so it can be read in Imp. From what you have described (unless I am not understanding it correctly) you are looking to have additional email accounts on your own domain - which is not a remote account. Re: [imp] notspam option gone in H5?
Read the header and commented out configuration example from 'imp/config/backends.php' I directed you to. The option still exists, it is just named differently. ** I managed to post this to the list in a way that made it appear out of context I ** ** hope this post makes more sense. In essence, I'm trying to set up a way for users who ** ** mistakenly mark something as SPAM to unmark those messages and I understand that is done ** ** via the "notspam" variable. ** I have studied the comments on that document and the docs at http://www.horde.org/apps/imp/docs/UPGRADING#id3 and I am afraid I cannot reconcile to two. For instance, in backends.php it states "This array can contain two keys - 'innocent' and 'spam'" The docs page has the example $conf['notspam']['program'] I'm not able to discern where 'innocent' or 'spam' would go as there is no example to follow. I'm sorry gang, I'm really trying here and I'm totally willing to read the documentation, I just don't understand it. I do have this also defined in backends.local.php which I understand effects the way notspam is defined/handled: $servers['imap']['spam'] = array( 'spam' => array( 'display' => false, 'email' => 's...@address.org', 'email_format' => 'digest', ) ); -- Brett Charbeneau I have spam/ham sent to email addresses where my server processes accordingly, your setup will differ if you use local commands to process, but this shows a working example of a setup that has a spam button in Inbox, and an Innocent button in Spam folder. This is my config from backends.local.php (so it's not necessarily the full array, but written to call out and override backends.php values). The display option is detailed in backends.php, and shows where 'Spam' and 'Innocent' buttons will display. $servers['imap']['spam']['innocent']['display'] = true; $servers['imap']['spam']['innocent']['email'] = '<...ham processing email address...>'; $servers['imap']['spam']['innocent']['email_format'] = 'digest'; $servers['imap']['spam']['spam']['display'] = false; $servers['imap']['spam']['spam']['email'] = '<...spam processing email address...>'; $servers['imap']['spam']['spam']['email_format'] = 'digest'; Simon. -- Simon Wilson M: 0400 12 11 16 bintAhIlUsnf7.bin Description: PGP Public Key pgpW3yV7fQ8yf.pgp Description: PGP Digital Signature -- imp mailing list Frequently Asked Questions: http://wiki.horde.org/FAQ To unsubscribe, mail: imp-unsubscr...@lists.horde.org

[imp] Spam query
Hi list, My mail setup is doing a great job of keeping spam out of my inbox, but I have a puzzle... I have a postfix setup that filers incoming email through amavisd-new, including spamassassin. It is configured to dump nothing, but send all email on, including spam, to Cyrus IMAP, where a sieve script (set up using Ingo) includes: # Spam Filter 10: if header :comparator "i;ascii-casemap" :contains "X-Spam-Level" "*" { 11: fileinto "INBOX/Spam"; 12: stop; 13: } So as i read that, spam that is flagged over 5 is routed into INBOX/Spam... True enough, in that folder are a lot of spam emails. BUT many of them are NOT *... for example this is in my Spam folder: X-Virus-Scanned: amavisd-new at simonandkate.net X-Spam-Flag: NO X-Spam-Score: 0.908 X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, score=0.908 tagged_above=-999 required=6.2 tests=[BAYES_50=0.8, DKIM_SIGNED=0.1, RP_MATCHES_RCVD=-0.001, SPF_PASS=-0.001, T_DKIM_INVALID=0.01] autolearn=no autolearn_force=no The email IS spam, so I'm not complaining that it's in there - but I can't see WHAT put it in there. I'm getting a couple of false positives which got me looking to see what spam is getting flagged. I realise it's likely not a Horde issue, but just seeking to tap into the expertise here. Could it be an IMAP client with build-in spam checking (like Mozilla Thunderbird for instance?) I agree that the above sieve rule should not trigger with the above message, but sometimes IMAP clients may also move spam out of the way. Thanks Arjen. I'm not using any IMAP clients other than Imp or Horde ActiveSync... which is why I'm puzzled. :) Only other thing I can think of is that maybe Nine (my phone email client) which is spam-folder-aware, may be dropping them in to there... I realise it's likely not a Horde issue, but just seeking to tap into the expertise here. What am I missing... [imp] New IMAP server, troubleshooting slow IMP performance
I've just moved over to a new IMAP server on my local network, migrating IMAP from a CentOS 5 to a CentOS 7 server in the process. Horde/apache are on a separate server on the same network as both the old and new IMAP servers. I'm trying to troubleshoot laggy performance in Imp since the move. For example, refreshing the mail list in Inbox and deleting an email each take 3 to 4 seconds before the Refresh circle stops spinning and the list is updated. This is longer than it was before (1 to 2 seconds typically). It just means that overall Imp feels very slow. I enabled debug in Imp's config, and the comms with the server appear fast - a total transaction time for this set of 0.1683 seconds (see below). Any pointers on why Imp would be slow in this scenario, and what I can do to troubleshoot? No - feels very snappy from Mailbird. - Are other php scripts on your webserver where imp is running also reacting slow? No. WordPress, which is hosted on the same server as Horde, is performing as normal. I also have a custom PHP app running on that box, and it's lightning fast. The Horde server is not highly loaded, CPU usage avg < 5%. - Are the cache settings for horde and imp the same as they were in the old setup? I've not changed anything on the Horde server except pointing Imp and Ingo backends.local.php to the new IMAP server address. I also rebooted it. - Are the network settings, especialy routing and DNS, on the new webserver really OK? The web server has not changed at all, Horde and httpd are unchanged (apart from the changed config to point to the new IMAP server), only IMAP has moved. The server IMAP has moved to is running well - again very low CPU, 4GB RAM. It runs postfix, cyrus-imapd, associated mail filters, and nothing else. It's not a high traffic mail server. It's only Imp that appears sluggish when pointing at the new IMAP server, yet the transactions appear to be fast from the IMAP IMP debug log. Maybe I'm imagining it... but my seat of the pants dyno tells me it's slower... :) Thanks Simon. Jan - IMAP cache... the caching I had setup was: $servers['imap']['cache'] = sql; I just switched it to nosql to use the mongo nosql setup on the server that is used for Horde cache - and the email times have dropped to about 0.5s. Sorry, replying from Nine and then forwarding with text from Imp has thrown the to-post / bottom-post all over the place. I'm going to keep going at the top here to avoid any further confusion. It's starting and completing the "get message to reply" routine, see example between lines below, verbatim. You can see the headers summary, then the attempted quote, followed by "End message". [imp] Imp search timeout
I have a newly installed setup with Horde 5.2.21, working really well, on CentOS8 with PHP7.4 from Remi. So much faster than the old VM (CentOS6 with PHP5.6)! Anyway, only one issue so far - doing Imp Advanced Searches with a broad search (e.g. Entire Message, all mailboxes, 4 letter string) I am getting timeouts (backend is off-server to a local Cyrus IMAP server). A narrower search works fine, so something is timing out. These searches would work OK on the old server. Horde logs: 2020-01-22T18:57:10+10:00 WARN: HORDE [imp] [search] Error when communicating with the mail server. [pid 4722 on line 730 of "/var/www/horde/imp/lib/Imap.php"] I notice that in backends.php there is a timeout option available, but the documentation indicates that this only applies to the SMTP option. True enough, having a guess and setting $servers['imap']['timeout'] = 120; doesn't help... Can anyone point me at where or if I can set a longer IMAP timeout? Or if there is something else I am missing - a PHP-FPM timeout accessing IMAP? Php.ini max_execution_time = 30? Or is this just something I need to improve on the Cyrus box - squatter? Any ideas would be helpful. A narrower search works fine, so something is timing out. These searches would work OK on the old server. Would they be hitting the same cyrus server, and also not running on the same host? Horde logs: 2020-01-22T18:57:10+10:00 WARN: HORDE [imp] [search] Error when communicating with the mail server. True enough, having a guess and setting $servers['imap']['timeout'] = 120; doesn't help... This would be the correct setting for the timeout, assuming 'imap' is the correct server stanza for your configuration. FWIW, the description is listed in the header of the backends.php file, but it's the very last option, I missed it the first time I looked too ;) Are you sure the issue was a timeout on the IMAP server? Can anyone point me at where or if I can set a longer IMAP timeout? Or if there is something else I am missing - a PHP-FPM timeout accessing IMAP? Php.ini max_execution_time = 30? A possibility, sure. How long did the searches take on your old system? Or is this just something I need to improve on the Cyrus box - squatter? If your question is whether to use squatter, then definitely: yes! Any ideas would be helpful. Anything of interest on the cyrus server logs? You can also activate imap debug logging in backends.php to log the IMAP conversation so we can see if there is anything weird going on there. Thanks Simon Thanks Mike and Jan. Yes, running squatter already on the IMAP server - every day in full and every 3 hours incrementally... not sure there is much more I can do there. I'll fire the old VM up again and do some side by side comparisons, with IMAP debugging enabled. [imp] Spam / Innocent buttons
Is there a way to have the 'Innocent' button shown on Inbox (dynamic view) for one user only? I am spam training my mail system at the moment, and am sending emails which Bayes is unsure of to sa-learn. At the moment to do that within Horde I need to move emails into the Spam folder, and then hit Innocent... it would be good for just me as the mail admin to be able to do that from Inbox. Re: [imp] Deleted messages not moved to trash from client
"given that I have selected the correct Webmail option (and set the corresponding option in all my clients), why is it when a remote IMAP client (Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail) executes a "delete" command and that command is received by the IMAP server is it not translated into a "move" to the trash folder command?" When any one of those remote IMAP clients connect what you have done in WebMail has absolutely nothing to do with anything. WebMail is just another "remote IMAP client" like Outlook (OK, maybe not like Outlook LOL), etc. Just as Outlook not displaying anything correctly is not the fault of your iPhone which does, neither is it the fault of Horde or WebMail (Imp) which also does. The commands that you have given to Imp to move to deleted items folder when I delete a message just tells WebMail "when I delete a message, tell the IMAP server to copy it to Deleted Items, and to then purge it immediately from the original folder". Those commands are being executed in your IMAP server, not Horde / Imp. Imp just knows to send those commands. Outlook does not have the capability to send those commands. In fact it sucks as an IMAP client. :) All it will do is send the delete (and the move? I can't remember), not the purge, although you can tell it to purge on exit I believe. So your issue lies with the clients that you are using not being able to interface with IMAP in an intelligent manner. Thunderbird isn't too bad I don't think from memory with IMAP... Imp / Dimp rocks though. You can actually watch the process happen in Dimp as it deletes then purges messages you hit delete for. You cannot (I don't believe, maybe someone else can shed more light here) tell IMAP to do that process on behalf of the client, as it is a string of commands as noted above that has to come from a client that knows which ones to send on your behalf. As far as I know, Gmail, iPhone are able to send those, Outlook is not. Just one terminology thing too - in IMAP, subfolders *are* separate mailboxes, so Inbox is a different mailbox to "Inbox.Deleted items". Hence why in IMAP when you tell your client to delete a message it tells IMAP to copy the message to the folder that your client has been told is where trash goes, then to delete and purge from the original mailbox. When you tell it to empty Trash, it knows (cos you've told it, or it's programmed to know) that Trash or Deleted Items, or whatever it is called, is your trash, and when you want to delete from there to do a straight delete and purge, not move to another folder (mailbox). Hope some of that makes sense... LOL. Simon Wilson. Quoting "E. John Messersmith III" Well, I don't know what Gmail is doing either but the iPhone gets it right in all cases and all clients get it right when using Gmail. I'm not being angry here just very frustrated. I don't know how I can be any clearer. It is either a configuration parameter of IMAP or Horde or both. Webmail - which I think is also part of the Horde project - gets it right too! So what is it doing? I go to Mail Options->Deleting and Moving Messages and I simply check the option "When deleting messages, move them to your Trash folder instead of marking them as deleted?" I select a message and click the Delete link. No marking for deletion; no counting; no nothing - just a simple move from one folder to another - everything is still in one Mailbox. So the "delete" command simply gets translated (or is made equivalent to) a "move" to the trash folder command. The client doesn't have to do anything. As long as the server moves the message to the trash folder the new state is simply reflected (updated) in the client. Why is this so difficult to understand? Is there something obvious I'm missing? So my question remains: given that I have selected the correct Webmail option (and set the corresponding option in all my clients), why is it when a remote IMAP client (Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail) executes a "delete" command and that command is received by the IMAP server is it not translated into a "move" to the trash folder command? -- IMP mailing list - Join the hunt: http://horde.org/bounties/#imp Frequently Asked Questions: http://horde.org/faq/ To unsubscribe, mail: imp-unsubscr...@lists.horde.org
Re: [imp] Deleted messages not moved to trash from client
He actually said "Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail", not "Outlook Express". Having personal experience of Outlook as an IMAP client that was the one I chose to discuss. Further discussion of those clients and their behaviour as IMAP clients is probably not a subject for this list other than for the sake of comparing behaviours to Imp... Yes, I might have said about prefs.php but it appeared to me that the OP's issue is not with Horde at all, but rather with how those other clients behave and interact with IMAP. What I did explain was what Imp does to achieve the 'move to trash' that he is seeing that other clients may or may not do. IMHO explaining *how* technically Imp does that or how that behaviour can be modified would have added little to the understanding of the OP in this particular instance...It seemed to me that the OP had not understood the IMAP server / client interaction at a conceptual level, which was what I was trying to clarify a little. Maybe I didn't do a particularly good job... :)Quoting "Craig White" <craigwh...@azapple.com>: > He said Outlook Express, which is a well behaved IMAP client, not > Outlook which is not a well behaved IMAP client. > > You might have made it clear to OP that within > horde/imp/config/prefs.php is the ability to control the exact IMAP > client behavior which does allow him to move e-mail messages to a folder > of his choosing rather than flag messages as deleted.
