Re: [efloraofindia:41513] Re: One of the tastiest mushrooms
Thanks for your comments. In Traditional Healing, instead of labeling any wild mushroom as poisonous or beneficial, the Traditional Healers give emphasis on the place where is grows. I have learnt that same mushroom species growing in different places possess different properties. For example wood mushroom (Bracket Mushroom) growing on dead Lannea tree is considered poisonous whereas same species growing on Pterocarpus is considered beneficial. And poisonous mushroom is not a curse for Traditional Experts. Instead of using it alone they use it in form of combinations. In these combinations presence of other ingredients nullifies its toxic effects. While documenting Traditional Medicinal Knowledge about Medicinal Mushroom, I gathered much information on this aspect. During college study I learnt only one course on Mushroom and that is Mushroom growing but in Nature's experimental fields I am getting vast knowledge about Mushroom. Here is link to my recent work on Medicinal Mushroom. http://www.google.com/#hl=ensafe=offq=+site:www.pankajoudhia.com+%22medicinal+mushroom%22+oudhiasa=Xei=-L0-TIjUDIWcvgOWm6jkCgved=0CAIQqAQwAgfp=d571b3712fffe003 regards Pankaj Oudhia On Thu, Jul 15, 2010 at 9:46 AM, tanay bose tanaybos...@gmail.com wrote: Dear all, This is a very common phenomenon where the plant and fungi are known to accumulate metals or heavy metals in them. This particular feature has lead to the development of bio-remediation. The plants were initially used as bio-remediants but later fungi and bacteria have over taken the popularity, the simple reason is the growth rate factor. Many mycelial fungi and mushrooms in the world over has been or is being used to remove such toxic pollutants. They are known to remove, heavy metals, aliphatic, aromatic hydrocarbon and many other. after the remediation is complete these bio-forms are cautiously removed from the area. But when such organisms grow wildly in regions with toxicants present largely on the substrate they tend to accumulate it within themselves as a physiological phenomenon and enters into the food chain through animals or human may leads to many related diseases and can even lead to cancer. Re: [efloraofindia:41515] Re: Identity of this anual please?
In my state, one of the local names of Gloriosa is Jhagadhin means Jhagda karane vala. It is old saying that presence of this plant in home garden results in family dispute. One can consider it as blind faith but our forefathers were not fool. There must be some logic in it. We must try to search scientifc reason behind this saying. As you know, it is very toxic plant and it must be kept far from approach of children and pet. This may be the reason our forefathers have associated this fear with this herb. Dear all the members, I have this plant of Royal palm with me for more than 30 years. First in pot and for last 27 years it is in ground. In Delhi I have seen these old trees only on Syam Nath Marg opposite Old Delhi Railway station. On other places they are not so old. Never saw them in bloom though fish tail palm, when mature, blooms profusely here in Delhi. This year when I observed bloom on my tree I asked SARKARI HORTICULTURE AFSARS. I was told that it starts blooming arround 30 years of age. I am now waiting for the bloom to open. Dear Raghuji, Fortunately you are going to Arunachal in a very good season. Probably, it'll be heavily raining there but at the same time u'll get so many beautiful plants in flowering. Namdapha is one of the most beautiful but difficult place in Arunachal to explore. U'll see a lot of Hornbills too. The area is full of leeches so dont forget to take ur hunting boots, leech guard, rain coat and torch there. I would also suggset you to take some chemicals to purify your drinking water, otherwise drink water only after proper boiling. The area is botanically very very rich and so many rare Orchids and plants like Sapria himalayana are reported from that place. I am sure, you'll enjoy this area. Wish you a very happy and successful trip. Regards, Ritesh. I was wondering (just guessing really) if it could be an Anogeissus. I do know that it is not an Adenanthera pavoninathese leaves are smaller. It is not Dalbergia sissoo, which is the one Dalbergia I am familiar with. I'll get some more pics soon. Thanks for the ideas, Padmini Raghavan. On Thu, Jul 15, 2010 at 8:00 PM, R.
