Re: [efloraofindia:301947] Plants From Australia 2018:: Centranthus ruber from NSW-NS July 03

2018-08-03 Thread Nidhan Singh
I agree with what Garg Ji have expressed, I too was reluctant to
assume it *Centranthus
ruber *when I made a comparison on web. Moreover, the plant itself was seen
growing neglected as a wild plant, and the flowers were not that
eye-catching as a cultivated would have..
Ushadi Ji, I do not have any better pics of this, to discern what actually
it could be..I just agree that it is a *Centranthus* sp.

Re: [efloraofindia:301920] Identification-Reg

2018-08-03 Thread Ushadi Micromini
this is a case study in what NOT TO DO when requesting an ID

First is the Subject line
make it unique

Pictures must be clear.
thoughtful
not something you "snatched " in passing.

Pictures must be FULLY REPRESENTATIVE
showing:
FLOWERS
FRUITS: ripe/unripe etc
IF FLOWERS : FULL INFLORESCENCE

NEXT IS BRANCHING PATTERN
LEAVES: ON THE BRANCH
THEIR ATTACHMENT TO THE BRANCH
ANY SPECIAL FEATURES THERE?

FRONT AND BACK OF LEAVES
preferably parallel to the camera sensor (in old days it was the film plane)
and if one had transmitted light picture to show the veins it would be
better still
then the stem/trunk bark
and Overall HABIT of the plant or the tree

and its Habitat how many in the community of the plants, esp if in wild.

soil type : dry desert, wet clay rocky etc

2018-08-03 Thread Tabish
Dinesh's white Epilobium from Valley of Flowers should also be the same
species, as the one depicted on FOI (also from VOF).
https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!topic/indiantreepix/G7abRLTwmgU
*Epilobium tibetanum *is described as having pink flowers, and rarely
white. So it looks rather unlikely that all the white Epilobiums we have

from different places, are all the rare white Epilobium tibetanum.
