my repository is located on our file server. this directory is mounted

all files should be write as cvsuser. but all users which are defined in

Hi.
I wanted to have a similar scenario, but should I consider this:
One potential problem is that when you check out the modules with these
artificial paths, which don't exist in the repository, the ./CVS/Repository
entries in the intermediate directories will point to CVSROOT/EmptyDir.
Is there any mechanism to extend cvsignore to match questionable files and
then use something like the "file" command to peek inside them to decide
whether to ignore them or not?
This seems doable. A quick hack would be to change ign_name to take a
new parameter:
int am_server

I find this all very amusing because when I suggested that
we should have an FAQ (which would include answers to
questions like this) I was told by the loud, obnoxious

But what if you don't know what The Cederqvist
Hello
I currently use CVS for our projects - we have 9 modules, about 9300
files, close to 80Mbytes in total (mostly .jsp and .java files). We don't
do much in-house development, but quite a bit of bug fixing and minor
improvements.
Most of the new development is done offsite for us - the code
Hi,
I'm on a UNIX machine and would like to see a CVS log
between two dates. Cederqvist (I like referring to this documentation
this way :) claims that I can do something like:
cvs log -d 2000-01-202000-09-01 MyFile.cc
csh doesn't like this. If I try back-slashing the '' I get something
weird
Isn't this the case with _EVERY_ board/list?
My conclusion is that the old-timers want to have their
obscure lingo so that they can feel superior. They can
then separate themselves from the masses while at the
same time, still feel good by professing to want to help
the down-trodden with

Enclosing the entire '2000-01-202000-09-01' argument in single quotes should

In my opinion, referring to a standard document by the last name of its author
is not snooty or superior. It would be annoying to have to list the full title
and author in every reference.
An entry should be added to a faq for this question. That way, people new to
CVS could instantly find out
