The build has no GERRIT_CHANGE_OWNER nor GERRIT_CHANGE_OWNER_NAME, for
some reason:

https://jenkins.ovirt.org/job/ovirt-hosted-engine-ha_standard-on-merge/84/parameters/

I suppose the issue can be ignored for now, let's see if the next merge passes.

Thanks for the report.

Adding infra/infra-support. Any clue? This is affecting also CI,
breaking at least
test_undo_preview_snapshot_when_mac_used_reassigns_a_new_mac in
ovirt-system-tests.

+1.

Perhaps we can add an optional suite name? E.g. 'ci ost ansible-suite-master'

from the logs.

Hi all,

Please see [1][2]. Something added in [1] a link to [2], presumably
because [1] was mentioned in [2], but without a "Bug-Url:".

This is basically a duplicate of [3], fixed at the time by [4]. [4] is
almost two years old, and is still the branch HEAD - nothing was
changed there since. No idea what else might have caused this.

If the code handling this is now maintained elsewhere, perhaps also
add a README and/or some commit pointing at the new place.

Any idea?

This is a result of manual 'ci test'. Automatic check-patch on the
same patch did succeed.

As you can see, above does not include any '' sections.
Searching for relevant keywords I can find:

So perhaps some dependency of qemu is not installed, or not updated?

Thanks and best regards,

Now it failed again, on ovirt-srv22:

https://jenkins.ovirt.org/job/ovirt-system-tests_standard-check-patch/14124/

I am pretty certain that it didn't always fail, also after it started
failing - it was sporadic.

Other such failures already happened several times recently. Perhaps

Hi all,

I now pushed my first PR to ovirt-ansible-collection [1].

It has a Bug-Url link to [2].

The bug wasn't updated with a link to the PR. Should it? Please make
it so that it does.

Also, perhaps, when creating new projects, do this automatically for
them (and ask what bugzilla product should be affected).

Thanks and best regards,

It failed due to infra issue, adding infra-support and changing subject:

https://jenkins.ovirt.org/job/ovirt-engine_standard-check-patch/8460/console

10:42:37 stderr: fatal: unable to access
'https://gerrit.ovirt.org/ovirt-engine/': Failed to connect to
2600:1f18:26e2:::: Network is unreachable

I think we already saw several other similar cases recently. Is anyone
checking this? Is it a network issue? Routine maintenance? Something
else? Perhaps we should patch our scripts to try a few times before
failing.

Thanks,

Hi,

1. Please see thread "[ovirt-devel] gerrit pull/clone timeout".

2. Please see [1] - it failed check-merged, I tried again, and it
failed again. In both cases, e.g. [2]:

Error: Error downloading packages:
  Cannot download x86_64/ovirt-engine-wildfly-19.1.0-2.el8.x86_64.rpm:
All mirrors were tried

Of course, I can't be sure these are due to a single root cause.

Please fix :-)

Hi all,

I now searched google for "engine certificate problems in MacOS",
expecting to find [1], but didn't get it.

I don't think it's due to our robots.txt [2], because google does find
it in [3]. Perhaps it's due to configuration for our site in google or
whatever, no idea.

Can you please handle? Thanks.

Hi all,

If I look e.g. at:

https://jenkins.ovirt.org/job/ovirt-master_change-queue-tester/22202/

It says:

Testing 58 changes:

But then no list of changes.

If I then press Changes:

https://jenkins.ovirt.org/job/ovirt-master_change-queue-tester/22202/changes

I get an empty page (other than red circle and "Changes" title).

I think this is a bug, which was already supposed to fixed by:

https://gerrit.ovirt.org/79036

But for some reason this does not work as expected.

Please handle.

Thanks,

Hi all,

I do not know how the CQ works, or even the terminology. Sorry.

When a patch is merged in gerrit, some time later a job is triggered
that adds it to the CQ. This job adds a link like [1].

Later, the CQ tests the batch of changes, and either approves them or
bisects them to try to find the bad one. I can't see in the gerrit
page, e.g. [2], any comment from this part. Please make the relevant
jobs add suitable comments to relevant gerrit changes. E.g. "This
change passed the CQ ", or failed, or some other suspect change
failed and therefore this one isn't published either, or whatever.

[JIRA] (OVIRT-1956) manual job upgrade options/table are messy

Hi,

This was originally reported as [1].

It's not completely clear what each choice of 'ENGINE_VERSION' and
'SUITE_TYPE' runs. We should clarify that, add to the table missing
information if needed, including noting somehow combinations that
should not work, if any (e.g. upgrade from 4.0 to 4.2 or master).

In addition to what I wrote in [1], I now checked and saw that a patch
[2] for 4.1 made the change-queue run [3]:

- basic-suite
- upgrade-from-prevrelease - this caused upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1
- upgrade-from-release - this caused upgrade from 4.1 (released?) to
4.1 (tested)

Which looks just fine to me, but if that's also supported by the
manual job, it's very hard to guess from the table.

Not sure what you mean.

I already wrote that there was no code change. But there definitely was a
_squash_.
So the git history was very different. Patchsets 7 and 8 had different
parents.

Fine, so you mean I should file a bug against gerrit itself? OK:

I had [1] and [2]. Patchset 8 of [2] is a combination of:

- Patchset 7 of it,
- [1] squashed into it,
- Commit message change.

Gerrit commented:

Uploaded patch set 8: Commit message was updated.

In theory it was right, because there was no code change between 7 and
8. But I'd expect it to either be silent, or to notice that there was
also a squash (and suggest to abandon the squashed patch?).

Some jenkins jobs have under "Build Artifacts" a Java-script "+ View",
"Expand all" etc that let you see artifacts directly from the build

[JIRA] (OVIRT-1895) CI votes not forwarded on commit message change

Hi all,

If a change goes through this flow:
1. Push an update N
2. CI triggers check-patch for N
3. Push another update N+1 that changes only commit message
4. CI marks +1 N

Then we have logic to not trigger CI for N+1 (with the assumption that
a change to commit message should not affect the result), but also do
not mark +1 N+1, leaving the patch unmarked.

We should either forward the +1, when giving it, to all consecutive
future patchsets that only changed the commit message, or give up on
the optimization and always trigger CI.

As an example, see:

https://gerrit.ovirt.org/87515

Best regards,

I asked Sandro and he said if should be ok. Now I am not sure.

Thanks,

[JIRA] (OVIRT-1784) Partial content in 'all files in zip'

2017-11-28 Thread Yedidyah Bar David (oVirt JIRA)
Yedidyah Bar David created OVIRT-1784:

Summary: Partial content in 'all files in zip'
 Key: OVIRT-1784
 URL: https://ovirt-jira.atlassian.net/browse/OVIRT-1784
Project: oVirt - virtualization made easy
  Issue Type: By-EMAIL
Reporter: Yedidyah Bar David
Assignee: infra

When pressing, under jenkins jobs' artifacts, "all files in zip", sometimes
the downloaded zip does not contain all files, but only some of them. This
is a known issue for some time now, opening this ticket for tracking.

If we can't find a solution, and even if we do, perhaps add a workaround
somewhere to always create a static archive.

Pushed such a workaround for OST, not sure how to do this for all jobs. In
practice I think it's most relevant to OST, as in most other cases there
are only a few artifacts.

It might be useful if Change Queue failure reports, and perhaps also
successes, be added as comments to the relevant gerrit patches.

Perhaps even mark -1 on failures, for visibility, even though they are
already merged and it does not mean much.

See patchset 1 of [1].

Sandro had a look and didn't notice any special load/backlog on jenkins

I am not against this, but I was under the impression that part of the
reason for "manual" was to ease the load on slaves.

For both of above approaches, how do you suggest to pass multiple
patches/builds for different projects?
Suppose I want to run ost on pending patches for otopi+host-deploy, for example.

Perhaps. I don't mind that much the architecture, I mainly want the
behavior :-))
If you can suggest other means for such a "single shot" command, great.

[JIRA] (OVIRT-1554) Get rid of old 'create_rpms' jobs

It is active, although not too much.

Not sure how to "move to a project on its own", or what wildfly did.

It's maintained externally:

https://gitlab.com/spice/spice-nsis

The copy on ovirt gerrit is used for internal review and for CI.
Once we are happy internally with a change, we push it upstream.

We asked in the past to include an "automation/" directory for
standard CI and it was refused. Is it possible to create a "wrapper"
project that will use standard CI, and will still monitor the
upstream project (run CI per each push/merge there)?

Or you suggest some other means?

[JIRA] (OVIRT-1602) [RFE] allow passing a gerrit link to ovirt-system-tests_manual

2017-08-20 Thread Yedidyah Bar David (oVirt JIRA)
Yedidyah Bar David created OVIRT-1602:

Summary: [RFE] allow passing a gerrit link to
ovirt-system-tests_manual
 Key: OVIRT-1602
 URL: https://ovirt-jira.atlassian.net/browse/OVIRT-1602
Project: oVirt - virtualization made easy
  Issue Type: By-EMAIL
Reporter: Yedidyah Bar David
Assignee: infra

Hi all,

How about $subject?

So that when ovirt-system-tests_manual sees a gerrit link supplied in
CUSTOM_REPOS, it will do by itself 'ci please build' (extra points for
checking if that's already done and reusing) and use the resultant
build as if that build itself was supplied in CUSTOM_REPOS, thus
freeing the user from doing that? I find myself many times running 'ci
please build' only to later wait until it finished and then pass that
to ovirt-system-tests_manual. For projects that are very quick to
build, that's a bit tedious, but not too much. But for engine builds,
that take somewhat longer, I often forget this and come back later. It
would have been nice to be able to do this in a "single shot".

Thanks,

Some weeks ago I pushed my first patch to openstack [1], and it
automatically added a reviewer called 'Welcome, new contributor' which
reviewed/commented (and so sent an email) with some introductory
material. Might be nice to have on oVirt's gerrit.

At the time it didn't work for me, see Description.
At some point we reverted the relevant patches for other reasons.
I now pushed again a variation [1] of the patch that then failed,
and it now passes. So I guess it was fixed since then. Thanks.

You can close this ticket.

If we have problems once we decide to continue with the effort
to support python3 (sadly not soon, it seems), I'll open other
tickets as needed.

Can't see why not - we still want python3 support eventually.
Didn't check recently about actual status, and this was
postponed to oVirt 4.3.

That's a good question from oVirt-metrics' perspective.
I am not sure.
For now we wanted something quick and this was the solution - build in
copr, copy to -static.

I am not saying it's the best solution. I did open the other ticket...

I am just suggesting it as a real-life use-case that we should consider when
designing how to compose our repos etc.

That's indeed an option.

This specific project is not really part of oVirt, IIUC.
It will be used as part of the common-logging effort, aka
https://github.com/ViaQ .

Actually this was the first time I built a rubygem in copr (and one of the
first few times I built anything. But I did have an account), and it was
as simple as choosing a build type rubygem and passing the link to it.
I don't think we can beat that yet...

A recent case we had - we wanted newest rubygem-fluent-plugin-viaq_data_model
on all relevant repos. The code is maintained in github/rubygems. I built it
in copr and copied to -static.

Do we want to directly use copr? IIRC we had problems with this in the past.
If you intend to mirror, fine - how? Do we have a framework for this?

Fine with me, but then please add to the page a link somewhere to the list
of possible commands.

I commented "Rerun-Hooks: all" tens of times so far, and in each and every
one of them had to search for the exact syntax - never managed to memorize
it.

Hi,

I think it will be useful to have an option to very easily (such as
pressing a button in gerrit) to do a full build of a project,
similarly to current build-artifacts, but for a pending patch - so it
will not be collected by any publisher, and will keep its artifacts
for a short time (say, 2 days).

This will allow to use these artifacts for manual tests, perhaps
longer than check-patch, in case a developer wants to do them.

Hi all,

Recently a patch to the engine [1] added a new package,
with a certain set of dependencies, which broke upgrade.
This is similar to [2] but for a new package.

CI wasn't affected, I think because of [3].

To make CI test such flows, we should have a job that:
1. Builds, installs and sets up the version we want to test
2. Pushes a dummy change to the local git repo (to force
a new version), build the patched tree, create a yum repo
with the build and add it to yum.repos.d.
3. yum update
4. engine-setup

Another option is to revert [3], or to duplicate - have
both "upgrade current to self" and "upgrade latest snapshot
to current". The downside is that it will be checked later
than above plan - instead of in the same build, will only
be tested in the first build that uses the snapshot after
it was updated, and also will be misleading, as the reason
why that job failed will not be apparent (which was why
[3] was added).

Please handle. I can of course try to help. Best,

If you check original [2] you see that python3-devel was installed.

I did some more work on this subject today, and final result is:

Current intended patch [1] fails on jenkins fedora 24 job, passes centos7.

A hack [2] that zeros dnf.conf makes it succeed on both.

I don't mind reversing their order for the git log (and not merge a
"broken" patch) until current ticket is solved, and then revert [2].

Hi,

I suspected, based on the log, that something is broken about dnf
configuration, so pushed [3] and ran the job again [4] with [3]
cherry-picked, and it succeeded. I thought that's enough for a
verification, so asked to merge it, and it was merged. Later on, lago
tests started breaking [5] with:

09:37:44 Error: nothing provides repoman >= 2.0.12 needed by
python-lago-ovirt-0.24.0-1.fc23.noarch

So [3] was reverted [6], Currently pending, but I expect it to be merged soon.

So we need a better solution.

While investigating this, Nadav partially understood the issue - we have, at
certain points in mock_runner, both /etc/yum.conf and /etc/yum/yum.conf.

Not sure why and whether we need both.

We tried also various variations on this patch in [7][8][9][10], none worked.

Probably better to fully support dnf instead of this hack, not sure
what this requires.

Thanks,

If you only need some pdf file from there, some time ago I copied all
of them to [1]. Didn't spend time yet converting all the links on the
new site to point there.
