My guess is that you're trying to get the driver that will let you get 1024 resolution in XFree for your 15" monitor? That's what I've had to do. How're you downloading the files? From Navigator? FTP? It seems like the way they were downloaded is not good. Did you download as ascii?

Im not real sure on a way to disable the touchpad on the inspiron because its set as a default to be ON in BIOS and there is no option to disable. They sure do make it hard to get it to work but when you dont want it your just screewed. ILL keep my ears open for ya. Thanx -Original
