I don't think that 5.2.5 will be the last 5.2.X release before 5.3 is
released as much as I'd like that to be the case. So, the need to maintain
5.2.X branch will continue even post 5.2.5 release, but I don't disagree
with the idea of starting the process of 5.2.5 release in a week or so.
On 9/26/
The 5.3 branch was just created in the CVS and is now open for
development. Please remember to MFH/MFB your patches to this branch

Quite a lot of those nifty Web 2.0 sites, I would

I sure hope those nifty Web 2.0 sites don't use SOAP and XML-RPC but

It sounds like the merits of having phar is would only be apparent
after it is included in the core and everyone starts using it because
of that. This won't happen simply because most software producers
can't rely on extensions that are only available in version

which
would be a great advantage. The current system of distributing a bunch

locale everytime you want to compare strings is a hack
and not a
bug fix.
Its a solution that works. There are very few instances where such
behavior is needed and in php6 it won't be relevant anyway since
posix locales will not be used.

The patch will need to wait for 5.2.2, it is too late for it to be
accepted into 5.2.1 tree.
